One wonders if this film can salvage whatever was shown in the TV series.

this series probably would have worked better as a few OVAs or a few movies rather than 12 long episodes.

Such high hopes for the series before the start of Summer season and what a dud it ended up. The middle 5-10 episodes were actually good but then there are the ridiculous ending 2 episodes. Some will like it I guess but I thought it was beyond redemption. I think they are being optimistic with a movie?

Yeah, they probably expected a lot from the Blood and Clamp brands, so the movie was planned from the start.
Needless to say, the plan has backfired given the cold reception.

Ah c'mon! You gotta admit, the series sucked but you kinda wanna see the movie too...
Right ?
Even though the series was pretty, meh, to say the least... after watching the last ep, I know I really wanna see this movie.
It's killing me not knowing what the hell was going on .
-Since the series negelcted to really fill in much of the holes .
Anyways~
I'm not sure why, maybe it was because as far as line-ups go there wasn't really too many series to choose from, so I kinda maybe enjoyed Blood-C a little more than I probably usually would (or should), but I have to say that the last ep pretty much cemented what I had merely only given a slight single thought about before...
And now I really have to see the film.
That'll probably change, as the days/weeks/months go on, but as of now, they've pretty much hooked me.
(though, I gotta admit I do feel a tad ashamed because of that )

Omg, I completely agree! OVA's woulda been way better than making the eps. So better, in like, so many ways!
It really is a shame to look back a be a little disappointed in the fact that the series really could have gone somewhere...

Sounds a lot like Blood+ in that regard. That series was about twice as long as it should have been, too.

I liked the series, flaws'n'all. I'm looking forward to the movie, since I hope it'll conclude with Saya dicing that smug a-hole up into many thousand pieces. I'll find that satisfying.

Though it could be seen the other way around: Blood+ was given 4 cours, but Blood-C only 1. So one could say, they didn't expect as much confidence in it.
