Why a recap movie, again?
But I guess it's no worse than an extended episode style movie...

Recap? But then it shows Robin and Franky and some huge monster and their new ship. I think it's them returning to that island (somehow, these movies don't make sense) and the crew remembering what happened the first time they were there

Oops, didn't see the "another version" part.
But I still don't know how this'll work out, considering the Grand Line's... shall we say, quirky nature.
Is backtracking even possible?

That's no ordinary monster at the end though that's... well I wouldn't want to spoiler anything and I think I've said too much already heh heh.
This is a retelling though and they all are meeting Chopper for the first time.

Because It's a stand alone movie with it's own continuity. Just pretend that Drum Kingdom is further down the Grand Line and this will be the first time the crew meet Chopper and Wapol.

If it is another recap movie that'd be pretty lame. I watched the Alabasta one, and that was ok, since the Alabasta arc was pretty good already, but the Drum Island arc was pretty weak in the grand scheme of things, more of a speed bump on the way to a bigger story, like the Water 7 arc was to the Ennis Lobby arc. If anything a recap of the Skypiea arc (and later the Enis Lobby) arc would be the only ones worth redoing.
One Piece movies are typically pretty good though, so maybe they'll pull something out with this one.

... Holyyy crap.
I was absolutely not looking forward to another recap movie, but seeing who I thought I saw at the end of that trailer gives me goosebumps. Hopefully this all ties in somehow.
