Hi,
First-- I'm glad you have this feature, and think its a great start. I just wanted to say that before i question it or propose changes.

My issue with it has been finding titles. Many of them are listed in romanized Japanese only. This is sort of silly to me, as I only know some of these titles by their English name. Specific examples for me (which I only found by going through the whole alaphabet letter by letter)-- Armored Troopers VOTOMS, Voices of a Distant Star, and Spirited Away. If they are going to have their primary name listed in romanized Japanese, perhaps we can have little substitute names for where the Engish name would be in the alphabet??? Say, I look up Armored Troopers VOTOMS, and find it under "A", but the link is dead...yet it tells me the name that it is listed under here-- either linking me to it, or just telling me. This would be a wonderful feature, adn make the "My Anime" section much more accessible.

Also, as I'm sure you know, many titles are ...perhaps not double listed (although I think this is happening), but not all the titles from a particular franchise are listed in the same area-- say Patlabor stuff, or Gundam stuff, listed under G, M, and P between the two of them. Is this being remedied?? Or is it too big of a job??

I _do_ really like the section, and am glad it is here. Thank you for going through the trouble of getting it up and running. Just thought I'd put the questions/recommendations out there and see what was up with the section....

Steve

Don't they already have that for alot of the series? saw several things listed under more than one name (ie: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon). I could be mistaken though since I haven't used MA in awhile.

Yes, but all of the titles lead to the same thing. So it doesn't really matter. They're just alternate titles.

Besides, you can always use the search if you can't find the title you're looking for.

thanks for the advice about the search button. I tried using it, but it pulls up many, many references when you do it for, say, Spirited Away. I simply wanted to know what you listed it under in the My Anime section (I dont' need to know anymore-- I found it-- but that's what I was looking for then). The long list of spots where it comes up on ANN isn't very helpful for simply finding it on the list of shows on the My Anime section. In fact, its really rather daunting-- versus the simplicity of simply having it listed under "S" with a link to the other romanized name that you've chosen to list it under.

I didn't want to add a name, becuase I figured you _had_ to have it listed somewhere and I just couldn't find it.

I know what you're saying Steve. I only caught Sen to Chihiro - Spirited Away because I had resorted to skimming through all the titles, as I couldn't remember everything I had seen. ^-^;

But I think what Emerje meant was that if you search for the title via the Encyclopedia and go to it's page, on the right side/border of the page, it asks you if you have seen it and want to add it to one of your lists. So you could add/find titles this way also.

I really don't follow what you guys are saying. In My Anime, when you click on "add anime I've seen", titles will be present under different letters. For example, if you want to add Hana Yori Dango (TV), you can find it under H or under B (Boys Over Flowers). I really don't see where's the difficulty in finding a title.

And a little precsion... there's no such thing as a "dead" link in the encyclopedia. Since all the content is dynamically generated, all the links point to correct pages all the time. If you see an error on a page, it's because we had a problem with the database or something like that (and in that case you won't find *any* working link), not because the link is "dead".

HAHA! Now I see the problem! Alternative titles are listed in the encyclopedia, but only one per page! So you'll find Utena under U, S and R, but "Sen to Chihiro" and "Spirited Away" both begin by S, so only the first title (alphabetically) was listed, with "Spirited Away" only being displayed next to that title instead of the proper place in the list. The same problem occured with Puchi Puri Yuushi.

This was done for technical reasons, but when useability comes a-knockin', technical reasons take a hike. So I've patched up that page a little and now if you look for Spirited Away, you'll see a link that will bring you up in the page, to the place where the radio buttons are.

To say the truth, the main purpose of that page was to do exactly like Shorty22 did:
Quote:
I had resorted to skimming through all the titles, as I couldn't remember everything I had seen.
because that page was made with the idea that you'd go through the list and check off all the series you've seen, it was important that you wouldn't check the same series twice.
