"In the news" listings?

How often are the "in the news" listings for people updated? There appears to be no place to add them, so I assume they are updated by ANN staff, right?

In the article for Yoshiki Fukuyama (#14055) it says he was listed in the news once back in 2005, but I know he was in the news at least once this year also:

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-05-27/macross-25th-anniversary-concert-to-be-held-in-tokyo

Was this overlooked or is it just waiting for some massive update date to show up in the entry for the artist?

Negative. They were linked automatically and should not and could not be updated manually. For some technical reason, news could link to Encyclopedia entries but not vice versa since early 2007 when the site received an overhaul. I'll let Dan to explain what happened, if he has enough time.

As dormcat said, this feature has been broken since we did the redesign in mid-december. Articles added since then are not linked in the encyclopedia. The first step to fix this was to re-add greenlinks to articles, which I did a few months ago. I'll get around to fixing this sooner or later. Hopefully sooner than later.

There are also some links that are blatantly wrong that I've noticed. The best one I can think of is that on the KIBA anime, there's a news article about the character Kiba from Wolf's Rain being voted for on a favorite character poll.

Corrected. The old system was fully automatic and could be erroneous when a character's name matched the title of another series or if the title of an anime was a common word. The current system allow staff to manually correct such occurrences.

By the way, that was a news over three years ago... Rolling Eyes
