I bet it catches fire three times faster than normal DVD players.

I got a chance to take a look at it. It's about as RED as a Zaks. It kind of looks like one.

You know, if Bandai would just insist on some quality control for their anime merchandise then not only would this not happen, but neither would Gundam Crossfire.
I'm not sure which was the greater tragedy, as I didn't buy either of them.

The whole incident is serious but I can't help to laugh just thinking who the player was named after!

With regards to the Red Comet, Bandai could've saved a lot of recall money just by telling their customers: "it's not a bug - it's a feature!"

I believe this player has been out for some time now. I think it came out way back when the Char's Game Cube was released. It's funny that it took so long to get recalled.
I love the Char motorcycle helmt and considered buying it even though I don't have a bike. I almost bought the special 100 Shiki PS2 when it was released, but am not a gamer. I did end up buying the Gundam Mk-II Zippo (for 10,000 Yen!) even though I don't smoke! When will they release Gundam based products that I will actually use?
Actually my friend gave me a Gundam razor a few weeks ago when he was visiting the States. It is a K4 Tetra brand razor with a big RX-78 base. This might be the most ridiculous Gundam merchandise that I own.

I don't even get the "three times more" bit, but this thread and this post in particular are highly amusing to me

In the original Gundam series, Char's custom Zaku was described as being three times faster than other Zakus, despite the only real apparent customization to differentiate it from other units being that it was painted red (technical manuals and retcons would later concoct a more rational explanation). As a result, there's an in-joke among Gundam fans that anything customized with a red paint scheme (especially if it's connected to Char) is said to go "three times faster" as a result of simply being red.

Would that extend to Bandai's losses when they see sales figures in the red?
