Very interesting. The last I'd read about this collaboration between Kenta Fukasaku and Oshii it was going to be a historical piece called "Elle is Burning" that would be "set in the Nishinari Riot of 1990, a major explosion of violence in one of the largest and poorest slums of Japan."
Good to see that the project is going forward. Hmm. Refugees, conflicts with police, uprisings... You certainly can't deny that Oshii has common themes that run through the films he works on. |

Looks like Hollywood's making an "unofficial" remake
of Avalon, too.
