I've read a few threads on these forums of dvd rentals, purchases, etc. But all in all, I want an opinion based off of the majority. What is the best site to buy from in terms of legit-ness and price? Thanks in advance, sry if this has been asked before or if this does not belong here.

Rightstuf.com during sales on select publisher normally has up 40% off.
Deepdiscount.com normally all dvds are at least 20% and twice a year almost everything is 40% And I would say check this dvdpricesearch.com It's a quick way of searching many different online places for dvds. |

I do probalby 99% of my anime shopping through Right Stuf (also referred to as "TRSI," which stands for "The Right Stuf International"). Their service is 100% dependable and their staff responds to questions and problems very quickly. They constantly have sales, including frequent sales by manufacturer ("40% off all DVDs from Funimation", or the current "33% off all manga from Del Rey" sales are two examples). Also, they only sell "legit" merchandise, so that's not even a consideration.

www.rightstuf.com FTW!
TRSI is always marking stuff down (I love their bargain bin) and they are always having great sales. Plus, for only $12 per year membership fee, you can get an additional %10 off everything. They've been in business for years, so they're very legit. Plus TRSI is also an anime licensing company. |

If you're talking strictly about anime DVDs, you can't really do much better than DVD Pacific. They pretty much have a complete selection, have some things in stock that Right Stuf doesn't even have, great shipping and packaging for the most part, and absolutely awesome customer service. They also have the lowest prices of any site on the net as far new DVDs go (CDs as well). Whereas you'd wait for sales at RS, you always have them constantly at DVDP.
I've pretty much always have gone with them and will continue to do so. Wonderfully reliable. |

I don't order much from these guys, but I've found Robert's Anime Corner Store to be pretty good. Prices are generally pretty competitive with Right Stuf's, and I haven't had a problem with them yet. Good back-up option to use if necessary. I don't use them much because the shipping charges can just kill if you're not careful.
HellKorn I actually like DVD Pacific a lot (4-6 days via them vs. 7-10 days via DD, easy decision), but their shipping's gotten wonky when it comes to LE's, boxsets, or volume+artbox purchases in the last year or so. Also, if they would at least tell me what the actual shipping charge is when the order is placed instead of only posting it on the online invoice when the order ships, they'd probably get more of my business. |

I've tried to use Robert's Anime Corner Store before, but I found their browsing interface to be a LOT clumsier than Right Stuf's. I got frustrated trying to look around the site and just gave up after a while. |

It's not too much of a hit with me (though it does get a bit annoying when I have to give my mom a few extra bucks after putting forth the amount when I learn there's more added on to the shipping total because of extras). Their priority mail is derned cheap, and it usually takes two to three days for a package to arrive with me. With damaged packages, returns are very fast, easy, and no hassle. Since then they've changed their system around a little bit, though I don't know if they have included the total shipping upon ordering the item(s) as I've yet to place a limited edition DVD through them. |

I take it you mean the redesign concerning the "My Account" page? Since the redesign of that page, I've noticed that DVD Pacific now includes an estimated shipping price (how did I forget this ![]() I forgot to add this part on my last post. In terms of regular, run-of-the-mill singles, I'm fine with them, since the shipping's a constant $1.58.
I understand where you're coming from. The website layout is random in various places, true. Given all that, maybe I would've been better off saying that they're a good third-string backup, when the major online retailers and B&M stores fail. |

That's my only problem with them. The estimate is always wrong and it's frustrating to see you're being charged more at the last minute. Still, they usually end up being my number one choice. The prices are great and as long as you're not buying a box set, LE or SE, or a volume + artbox the shipping's good too. TRSI is my second choice. Great customer service and the sales can be awesome. My third would be DD. Good prices and they would be my number one choice but the billing address of my credit card is in Illinois so I have to pay sales tax ![]()
That's a great place to look if you need a hard to find DVD. They usually have extensive stock and I've managed to get my hands on a few things that had vanished from everywhere else. |

DVDPacific has great price and good customer service. They give you 37% off suggested retail price on Media Blasters and anything distributed by Geneon. 43% off on ADVision, Bandai Entertainment and FUNimation. Those discounts are their everyday prices for in-stock and pre-orders. No sales to wait and no membership to buy.

I agree that DVDPacific is good. They've got good, prompt customer service as well. However, the shipping can be an issue. Not only should you heed the warnings on box sets and such, but beware of the booklet inserts in regular single DVDs. I've gotten pegged with those, they charged me for 2 items for one of my Fullmetal Alchemist DVDs because of it's little booklet inside. But then the other DVD was full of crummy ad inserts & a customer satisfaction postcard managed to not weigh it down. *shrugs* But even with the shipping, I've found them to be cheaper or within .50-$1 or so of DeepDiscount's prices (excluding box sets and the such).
DeepDiscount is not a place I really want to recommend. I personally have had bad experiences with their customer service/accurate availabilty issues. However, there's no shipping regardless of price. And when they'd got their act together, things are alright, but I generally would try to go elsewhere. Also, I tend to have a hard time searching there. ![]() TRSI is a great place as long as you hit up their bargain bin, weekly specials, and random sales. If you stay in the bargain bin and weekly specials, then there's no reason to bother with their 'Got Anime?' program, but if you start buying from their random company sales or accessories off their website consistantly, you should definately consider getting their program. The first time I used it, it paid for itself plus $2. It makes their company sales a lil bit better. However, be cautious as many of their weekly specials and other items here or there will not be the cheapest you can find. It'll drop down to about/around the price you can find them at other retailers, so then that's personal preferance there. Personally, what I like to do, is open up a window to DVD Price Search and a window/tab to TRSI and compare stuffs from there. Price Search will show you DVDPacific & Deep Discount and then you have TRSI next door. ![]() |

I've found DD's CS to be pretty much a neutral experience, since you gotta press them into action sometimes (example: pre-paid postage return labels when the error was clearly theirs'.) However, when the ball starts rolling, things end up corrected in the end. I've had more problems with the product they ship out than anything else, actually. Once upon a time, I ordered an SE vol+artbox. When I got it, I opened the artbox, found the pack-in T-shirt, and that was it. No DVD. Fun times were not had by all. That, and that one jewel case that, quite literally, was bent to such an extent that the ends could be on a flat surface and the center of the case touching nothing but air. Yeesh. |
