Why do ANN got users ratings for Naruto Shipuuden already because its only been two episodes since the series started. It kind of premature to vote on the series since the series in its infancy and you might hate it afterwards. Also, since ANN do not allow you to change your vote, you are stuck with the your choice. If this is ANN policy then I think its should be change to ten episodes,as I called its a grace period once a series start.

At times it may be spammers (I doubt it in this case) and at times people will rate it after only watching one or two episodes. That's how they like to rate it, I suppose. You don't have to necessarily rate it after watching the entire series.

I just do not see rating its a Masterpiece when you just do not know what the storylines in this series or what will happen next. Unless you read the manga there is no need to rate it right away after just seeing the first episode of a series.

Well if they're doing that then they are probably spammers, or more than likely Narutards who think everything is great about Naruto |

...We're not allowed to change our ratings? Really? I thought it was fine....I mean, it's possible to do it....if they didn't want us to do it, why give use the option to change our ratings in the first place?

It riduculous that Naruto Shipuuden is ranked 18th on the Top 50 chart. I am a big Naruto fan but something is wrong with this picture. That like counting your eggs before its hitch. I think I found the big flaw in the ratings system.

I'm not sure how you got this idea. You can change your rating as many times as you want. |

You just have to wait for the hype to die down. Once the series gets developed people will either change their votes or there'll be new anime out there to overtake this one. It's just because everyone is really excited about the new season, I can understand it but I do think it's immature to vote on just 2 episodes.
I can't see an improvement in the ratings system to combat this kind of 'over-ranked' new season. Maybe as a series gets older more votes are automatically added onto it so it's not instantly replaced by die-hard fans of a new series who think the first episodes are pwnage. There aren't many reasonable solutions to this kind of voting. People will vote for what they love and it's not easy to argue with that. |

This is idiotic, we have this discussion every time anything new gets into the top 10. Here's why: the ratings are based on what people rate the shows, nothing more, nothing less. People can vote whatever they want, whenever they want, and change it as often as they'd like, hopefully whenever their opinion changes.
It's not too early to rate it, you just have to realize and make the assumption that the current ratings reflect the portion of the show that each viewer has seen so far. In other words, that Naruto has such a high rating right now is indicitive of only the quality of the first episode. You've been around here more than long enough to have seen a half dozen or a full dozen of these threads by now... I really hope you're not just trying to troll here and attract more attention to your favorite series. |

The ratings balance out over time. I'm sure that no matter how it were to be changed people would find something to complain about though. And I've yet to see any "flawless" rating system, as none exist. |

I believe this (not uncommon) misconception may come from the fact that changed ratings are not instantly reflected in the Encyclopedia. Ratings are (as I understand it) calculated once a day, during regular maintenance -- to reduce load on the system, I guess. As a result of this if you change your rating, the Encyclopedia will not reflect the change until the following day. Not usually an issue, of course -- except when there are very few ratings of a type. If yours is the only Masterpiece rating, and you change it, then it will naturally be noticeable that the rating hasn't altered immediately. Probably this is the cause of the misunderstanding. - abunai |

Selenta,I am not that big of a loser to troll to hype about how great Naruto is. I just saying ratings are just too premature for a series that started two episodes ago. The first two episodes of Naruto Shipuuden was great but I not about to rate its a Masterpiece after just seeing two episodes. What if the series go downhill from here? Also,I have not seen these kind of threads,so I didn't know that was many more of these threads.

As Selenta pointed out, this sort of thing has happened with other new series, among them Death Note and MoHS. Responsible raters of anime will wait until they finish the series or see enough to make an informed opinion. For now, it's just the spammers who overrate new series they like having an exaggerated effect due to the low vote counts. Over time, things will be balanced out by added votes as more people see the series, and by the haters who will downvote Shippuuden, thereby cancelling the exaggerated votes Plus, the Enclopedia has measures in place to reduce the "trustworthiness" of people who vote everything a Masterpiece (or everything Worst Ever), so have no fear, time wil resolve everything

I've voted most of the stuff I've seen masterpiece simply because if the reviewers don't say "It's very good or higher" or I know the director/Mangaka/other senior member of staff holds political views that are both idiotic and prominent in their work (or at least the work I'm deciding whether to see or not) then I don't watch it, thus I seldom see anything I do not find outstanding, as I have a good crap filter in place so I don't waste time/money on that which I find to be mediocre, the point is I'm actually very picky with anime and don't rate things highly out of laziness or trolling, despite appearances.

Basically, there are people out there who believe that the series will be so because it's Naruto. When there was still a web page up for Shipuuden on TV.com, people were giving it scores like 9.8 or 10.0 with comments saying "Oh it's the best series ever since Naruto fights blah, blah, blah" or "It's the sequel to Naruto so it's the best show ever!" Basically, that's your answer. [Edit] to give everyone an idea of how Shipuuden is rated a Masterpiece(completely stupid), please check out this review from TV.com. Even though it's not about Shipuuden, you get the idea. [OT]? How retarded does "Shipuuden" sound? |
