I really enjoyed this show and I was sad to see it end. I agree with the review for the most part- this dvd actually made me cry it was so sad. His plan...was awesome. And the voices for the US Gov officals were hilarious in English and especially in Japanese.

I'll miss this show.
good review

This series remains one of my favorites from last year. I found it overall more enjoyable than it's Trinity Blood (one volume left), and Basilisk siblings. Center to this is the Kagua/Saiga relationship. I remember mentioning early on that the nature of this relation (much like Solty Rei) is one of a caring parent, and always found it both odd and creepy that so many people here kept wondering when they would hook up. Maybe there is a bit of truth to the "pre/young teens look for friendship, teens/twenty-somethings look for friendship, and thirty plusers look for family." I wish there were more series where the main character is the teacher instead of the student. This is yet another reason I love Master Keaton. Granted much of the execution can be a tad juvenile (not as bad as Gantz), it still felt like it was written for an older audience. I also like the portrayal of old friends reencountering each other after time has passed. There is something special about seeing an old friend after many years and being able to click like no time has passed. Too many of these elements feel non-existent in most anime series besides Bebop, Keaton and a handful of others.

I'm still a tad sad that Key gave art and animation both Cs. I think the art very stylized and was much better than the arrtwork in GaoGaiGar or Fighting Spirit (the two DVDs I watched last night) On a technical point it lacked a bit in detail but most of the shots were decently on model. As far as animation I find rating to be more subjective. I for one find four or five frame cycles incredibly annoying. I also find stock footage really awful as well. I remember laughing wile watching Gundam Seed every time the Blue Cosmos rejects would attack since the exact same footage was used with their awkward weapons and memorable character close ups. Fortunately the animation in Speed Grapher wasn't bad enough to draw attention to itself. Of course the series didn't have slow facial rotations (Euerka's first ED is dazzling) or high frame rates, so I too wouldn't give anything higher than a B, but there are so many shows that have far worse animation. After all Trigun and Orphen got an A/A on this site. I expect Speed Grapher to do at least as well as Law of Ueki in the art and animation department!
