So Sony's Patapon is going to make an appearance on Switch huh, interesting. I wonder how long until Nintendo fan will ask for God of War, Uncharted, and Killzone to start making appearances on Switch (and probably Xbox too).

More than anything it seems that Sony is licensing out their niche IPs from former Japan Studio to Bandai. Everybody's Golf and this. If you aren't going to do anything with them yourself mabye you can find a new audience somewhere else. Certainly not comparable to MS' initiative. |

I think there might be something to this. Japan studio had those smaller gems that kind of fit in with Bandai Namco these days. Remasters like this don't necessarily have to do gangbusters to turn a profit, and they make for a decent test to see if there is still market interest for a new game. A Switch game isn't surprising since these were originally portable titles, and it's the de facto portable system now. Conceivably, any deal to publish it came with the requirement it also release on Playstation, which isn't a big deal for Bandai since third-party games tend to release on multiple platforms anyway. Sony recently had that Horizon Lego game on both Playstation and Nintendo, and they care a whole lot more about the Horizon IP these days, so Sony probably didn't care if this was going to Switch. Sony is putting its own games on Steam these days, so again, no reason to care about a PC version. I'd like to see more of this type of thing. The big publishers have plenty of IP they let go dormant because they're too small to care about now, but a different publisher might be able to make a go of them. |

Don't think there's a lot of Nintendo fans interested in games such as GoW, Uncharted or The Last of Us, not that Sony is also considering in porting those games. I think it's kind of obvious that with this recent announcement for Patapon and Everybody's Golf is that Sony is aware that these type of more family-friendly games have a greater chance of success on Nintendo platforms. Though that makes me wonder if Sony could consider porting to Nintendo and PC games from IPs that they haven't used in years and that also have a very limited appeal to the casual PS player, I'm talking about games such as Ape Escape, Wild Arms, Jumping Flash, Arc the Lad or even Gravity Rush, I honestly think those game have a greater chance of success on Nintendo platforms and PC. |

Sony seems to be taking the path to being a 3rd party publisher very slow. I suppose it makes some sense, you don't want to cease selling consoles one day and then suddenly start porting games to other systems. But it leaves them in some weird limbo, where they are being this 3rd party publisher, while in the background they are still doing some stuff as a console manufacturer.

Uh, just to let you know that both Gears of War Collection and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are coming to PS5 this year and I'm not making this up. Forza Horizon 5 (a game that came out on Xbox in 2021) is going to come out on PS5 this year. And if you think that's crazy, how many of you played MLB: The Show? Because that Sony owned official MLB franchise has already gotten an Xbox and Switch ports. MLB: The Show 21 made it's debut on Xbox, and MLB 22 has made it debut on Switch. If you're having Sony titles appearing on Xbox and Switch, then how long until Xbox fans and Nintendo fans will want Uncharted, Killzone, & God of War to appear on their respective consoles too given that Sony will get Gears of War, and Halo on there too. I wonder how long until we start seeing Super Mario, Metroid, and whatever Nintendo properties you can think of may start appearing on Playstation and Xbox which will blow even the haters minds away. I bet there are PS5 and Xbox owners that would love to play Super Smash Bros on their consoles or having a PS5/Xbox port of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and Super Mario 3D World, or even a 4K UHD enhanced version of Super Mario Bros Wonder for Xbox and PS5. I'm sure there are Switch (along with future upcoming Switch 2, and PS5) owners that would love to have a enhanced port of Rare Replay where Switch/Switch 2 version would have all Rare-developed Donkey Kong titles included would be a big gift for those that owned that consoles. To be honest, I never thought these would be possible but after seeing MLB The Show officially getting a Xbox port, and the long rumor of Halo coming to PS4 a few years back and now it's confirmed the PS5 will get the Master Chief Collection and Gears of War Collection, I guess nothing is crazy anymore. The idea of Super Mario 3D All-Stars coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S would blow everybody's mind and that could be possible, I can't ruled out that possibility. |
