The SH2 remake was awesome.

This is likely another SH remake announcement.

The question is, are they remaking 1 or going straight to 3? Or making both simultaneously? Or combining their stories into 1 game? Or are Bloober on 3 and some other studio is remaking 1?

I'd be surprised if this is some other Konami IP. Bloober likely doesn't say the obvious because Konami plans to announce the new SH remake game at its next Sh Transmission which they hinted could come before fiscal year end on Maŕ 31st.

Silent Hill f has been rated in Korea. The new Gans movie is coming, and apparently has a known runtime, suggesting a theaterical cut is finalized, and the situation with Anapurna on Townfall has stabalized, so there is plenty they can announce and make investors optimistic looking ahead.

I'm assuming more SIlent Hill remakes. I'm not looking forward to how they change 3.

??? What a weird take considering SH2 is mostly faithtful and the things that were added and/or changed actually elevated the game.

I really hope they remake SH1 before SH3. Both because it's arguably the one game in the series most in need of a remake and for the lore implications, especially for all the newcomers to the series. They'd probably be a bit lost otherwise.

True that since Silent Hill 3 is a sequel to Silent Hill.

I do think it should be 1, but my guess is 3. Konami decided to remake Metal Gear Solid 3, even though it would make more sense story-wise to start with MGS1. Between that and choosing to start with Silent Hill 2, I think Konami is going for what they think will be more popular than what would make more sense for newcomers.

What are you talking about? Metal Gear Solid 3 was a prequel, set 41 years before MGS1 (31 years before the original Metal Gear).

Yes, MGS3 is the first story chronologically. Although there are references and callbacks known to those who'd played the other games, it can stand alone for newcomers.

But anyway, he is still right that, in terms of Konami's thinking, the decision to start the remakes with SH2 and MGS3 were far more likely because those are the most popular/acclaimed entries.

Following that, the next logical remakes are SH3 and MGS2.

The SH games are getting the full-on remake treatment because the classics are considered too old and archaic control and design-wise by modern standards.

The MGS games all still hold up gameplay wise, so their design and presentation is being left intact with only a graphical facelift and QOL control changes to be up to par with the near-perfection that was MGSV.

Basically Remakes will be limited to the PS2 and PSOne entries, and maybe, the PSP ones too. Peace Walker is a biggie that I do think will get more heftily remade. But considering Silent Hill 0rigins is not considered one of the 'classics', it might just be ignored.

I was initially extremely skeptical about Bloober remaking Silent Hill 2, but they really impressed me. I loved the remake, so I’m very happy with this news! Deserved.

Consider the term "prequel." As in something that comes after a prior entry in a story, but is set chronologically before. The very term is in reference to it not being the starting point. Kojima certainly didn't start the series with Snake Eater. There are cutscenes in it that have distinct musical cues because it is information built on what is revealed in MGS2. Maybe not crucial, but definitely intentional.

But my main point is that MGS3 is frequently held up as the favorite in the series, much like Silent Hill 2, even though neither is the starting point. If Konami care about on-boarding new people, it would make more sense to start at the beginning. Instead, the remakes are starting with games that are pretty obviously geared towards selling to people who know the series already.

I don't understand why people want a remake of 3 first. Just makes no sense since the story is a direct continuation of the first game. I hope of it's 1, they expand the town exploring aspect of 2's remake, since that was some of the strongest in it. And then of course expand on the characteristics of the cast, which was barebones in the original.

Only popular games get remade because companies want to cash in on them. Silent Hill 3 would be the next logical sense since it would sell more than a remake of 1 would. If they only remade games that "needed" a remake they'd only remake bad games. In that regard they should remake Homecoming and the later western developed titled because 1 and 3 are fine as is. But they wont.

Disregarding how 3 is a direct sequel to 1, it was the worst selling game of the three. So yeah, I don't buy the idea of it selling more than a remake of 1.
