I gotta say, these days voice actors being replaced (for whatever reason) don't bother me at all.

I heard Takeshi Kusao talking as Toru Amuro on clip someone posted on X, and while the difference is obvious from Toru Furuya, he still fits the role.

Same goes for other characters that Furuya voiced.

I wonder who wil they choose as Amuro in Gundam.

Sad news. It was his role and only his. Still Takeshi's voice is similar to Furuya's so let's adapt to him then!

I guess it was inevitable.

I guess the question is if he'll ever be replaced as Amuro.

Losing the role of a character straight up based off you not even because you're unable to but because you fucked around too much is kind of amazing honestly. Don't feel bad for him and he was going to retire eventually anyway.

He already said Cucuruz Doan Island was going to be his last Amuro role due to age and Char's VA just retired too. So should they return, they will both be different.

That was never stated.

He said it was likely the last time he would be playing Amuro in an anime project. Bandai/Sunrise hasn't said anything about recasting either Char or Amuro. The reason Ikeda spoiler[was recasted for G-Quacks] was likely the same reason he didn't return for Gundam-san either ie not the same character.

They both just reprised their roles for Crossover UCE, UC Engage's big multi-part crossover event too. The only people who got recasted for that were either claims that they were busy ( health reasons as it turns out was the real culprit behind KENN's replacing of Kazuki Yao's Judau) or outright passed away (Seabook, Zabine, Chronicle, etc)

Ikeda didn't retire, he just didn't play Char (like he hasn't a number of times) and some idiot on social media took that to mean he must never be voicing Char anymore.
