The Fable
I am nominating this title as the most underrated anime series because I genuinely believe it didn't get the level of chatter and recognition it deserved. I suspect this is because it ran on Disney+ as opposed to Crunchyroll. It's all about a legendary hitman who is ordered to chill for a year but various people around him aren't cooperating with that notion. Highly recommended. |

Tsumasho
I was VERY concerned about this anime after reading the synopsis, but the series treats the characters with respect and care. This is a show about family and repairing relationships that we think are lost forever. I can understand why not many people wanted to check this out, but it turned out to be a tearjerker with no creepy vibes to ruin the mood. |

Terminator Zero
The show starts clunky and I have little hope of ever seeing the end of this story but a lot of the weird writing decisions make sense later on and ep 3 to 8 are a blast. Bonus points for refusing to engage with the Conners, the multiple canons and even Arnie. Mattson Tomlin wisely did his own thing. If this spin-off can´t find an audience then it´s time to terminate the IP. The animation was also near cinema ready. IG are the kings of sci-fi anime. |

Oi, Tonbo!
I know that Birdie Wing is what most consider to be the best that golf anime can offer. However, Tonbo's first and second seasons were so solid I think I actually understand why people enjoy the game of golf now. Like, on a technical level! The games are far more grounded and based in reality, but the writing is done to make the big moves and wild shots that a real person could do mind you, the highlight. It really explains the depth and strategy to the game as well. Plus, Tonbo's emotional journey in general is really impactful. Seeing a young girl face her trauma head on to live her best and happiest life? Always excellent! Just like, don't watch the dub. Truly one of the rare modern dubs that is actively bad and makes it worse to watch. Subs on for this one! |

Sengoku Youko
A great, well written and emotional battle shounen. Can't say much about spoiling it but one of the greatest parts of the writing is its character writing. Everything else is solid as well, including the music by Evan Call![/u] |

Brave Bang Bravern!
This show was a blast from start to finish. Bravern is super over-the-top mecha that will have you questioning what you just watched on more than one occasion. |

2.5 Dimensional Seduction
It's a beautiful work about fandom, friendship, and love that reduced me to tears through the strength of its unapologetically earnest emotions. It's incredibly satisfying seeing the cast support each other, learn lessons, and pass those lesson onto others. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who gave 2.5D a pass to watch it through and see the kind of stellar show that it grew into. |

Train to the End of the World.
Super weird and creative. Love to see original works doing their own thing. |

Girls Band Cry was incredibly good, but ended up under discussed in most places because of how long it took streaming services to pick it up.

My Wife Has No Emotion
Comfy sci-fi slice-of-life with robots surpassing their limitations by slowly developing consciousness and emotions seemingly beyond their original programming and the humans who treasure them. My only real complaint with the adaptation is that it stopped just short of introducing whom I consider to be the most interesting character in the manga, spoiler[Erisu Isami], but I can always hope that they'll do a second season.
I think you probably meant that post to go in the thread for female lead characters. This thread is for underrated series. |
