Excellent weekend for anime in USA My theater had Bocchi the Rock, Gundam I, and Look Back playing simultaneously. Incredible.
Look back could have done better with more showings. My theater only had one then added a second once that first one got almost full. |

Our city only had two and both were full very quickly.

Wanted to see this but my area only showed it twice. One showing on Sunday and one on Monday and I could not see either.

My favorite part of the movie was when four people’s emergency alerts blared out of their phone and then several more through the film (a Florida screening, lol)
For real though, the show was packed. Completely sold out showing. Wish it was screening longer. |

My local showing for Look Back was well attended-ish, not really sold out but plenty of people there. Compare to Bocchi tonight where we had about 6 people.
I am just glad we get to see Japanese Anime release on big screens relatively soon. |

For the majority of the US, showings were only available on Sunday and Monday, and this only gives earnings up to Sunday. So it likely earned over a million after Monday.
Fantastic manga and movie by the way. I was so emotional when I first read the manga years ago and I bought the paperback first day it came out. The movie did a great job giving life to the little newspaper 4-panel manga and filling in scenes between the panels. I wasn’t quite as emotional in the movie as when I read it, but it was still amazing and portrayed Fujimoto’s apprehension of continuing CSM after how it blew up after volume 11. The spoiler[ mass murderer was eerily similar to the KyoAni arsonist, ] but maybe that was the intended impression. I wonder if Fujimoto was acquainted with any of the victims. |

The theater that I went to had added a third showing, but the three other Cinemark theaters showing it in my area only had it on two screens each when I was purchasing a ticket. I’m not sure if any of the other theater chains were also showing it.
I really liked the short movie spoiler[despite its gut-punch], and I was unaware of the manga (although I figured that there was a manga or novel source). The animated 4-koma at the beginning was wonderful with its reincarnation story. ^_^; |

So is that four or five times the amount per theater as Megalopolis?

Update: our city added 8 more showings, so I should be able to get a seat this time. Glad they noticed the sold out situation and immediately put up more showings.

It’s getting a second weekend of screenings at all my local Cinemark theaters.
The screening I saw Monday night was a near sellout and the usual theater I go to added a second screening. |
