7 years is a decent age for gaqcha game. I still hate them regarding their policy with western fans though (they made everything to block the game access from outside Japan only to launch English version and close it in about a year).

I was always kinda, potentially, maybe, perhaps interested in a gatcha-less version of the game. One where I can just check out the story without all the online gambling shit surrounding it and now it looks like I might finally be able to get my hands on exactly that with this "archive version". I'm sure someone will make it available in the west... one... way... or... the... other...

Sounds like the archive feature will allow you to view your achievements and awards, like art.
There will probably be no game play though.
I used to have an earlier Madoka Magica game. When it closed up shop, all we could do was look at the character art cards that we won in the game.
They won't update the archive app either, so after one or two smartphone generations, the archive app will cease working too.
It would be nice if you could export the art.....
(just realized, you can always take screen shot captures now, wasn't available then.)

Bummer... Oh well, as long as I'll get to see Walpurgis no Kaiten this year, I will survive.
(Please don't tell me that it'll probably take a year until it will get a western release, I know, just let me cope )

The fans have tled most of the game online so that's there. Man this game helped through some really hard shit it had a good life and added a lot to some of the manga side story's. It's hard to let go you know.

They couldn't wait until the release of the last movie? Seems that they are banking all on the new game!

Well potentially you should be able to regardless, because... I'll have to add I don't have experience in too many gacha games, but the ones I've played the story comes for free and the story battles ain't that hard. Where the difficulty curve lies is the endgame, where you for example might take on much more difficult versions of story bosses. There, you either have to plan your character acquisitions carefully if the game is lenient, or just pull out your card if it is irredeemably pay-to-win.
Having said that, I have no idea how this game's gacha is/was structured.

Magia Record's Scene 0 is... not canon to the anime, right? It's a decent story on its own, but a mess to try and reconcile it with the main series, and largely invalidates heavy emotional beats and character relations in the original anime in favor of "retelling" the story in its own favor. Either way, it won't be available to experience if the game goes down.

Fans have been translated the story and events of the game so if you want the story of the game it's on YouTube.
