I’m put off by the premise that in order to find a gay partner in Japan one needs to be psychic.

Don’t we need to be psychic to find a gay partner in any country at this point? Lol.
All jokes aside, that’s not really the premise. The premise is that Adachi, an office drone and virgin, becomes a “wizard” (can now hear the thoughts of other people through touch) on his 30th birthday. One day, he accidentally touches his extremely handsome and popular coworker, Kurosawa, and learns that Kurosawa has a secret crush on him. As Adachi navigates his new powers and Kurosawa’s thoughts about him, he begins to wonder if he and Kurosawa could have a different relationship aside from just coworkers.

Actually this meme was created and popularized 2 decades ago in japan, in 2chan.
