I imagine that the only reason why the Game Gear games were included, instead of more widely requested games, is because the people behind Sonic Origins (& possibly Sega itself, as well) would prefer to give stuff like 3D Blast, Spinball (16-bit), & Chaotix full-on remasters & make them the focus on a potential second collection, should sales of this updated release continue to do well enough.

A Sonic Origins 2 with a remastered 3D Blast (probably based on the more recent Director's Cut update made by the game's designer), Spinball & Chaotix, with maybe the Master System games being included as bonuses ala the Game Gear games, & maybe even SegaSonic arcade (you know they'd at least try to make it work), would be a good deal, in its own right.

I suppose that could be the case, after all it is likely easier to add a GG emulator to Origins then start porting other a bunch of other games. Though I would have thought it would be preferable to include the Master System versions of Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos as they were made TVs, not 3" screens.

If they do another collection, I hope they include some of the other unported games, like the GBA entries.

^ Spinball would indeed need a full remake due to legal issues. In addition to the GBA games I would like to see the DS Rush games but I'm not sure if the dual screen is needed due to me never playing them.

Rush shouldn't be too hard, they would just need to figure out how to to put it onto a screen, it always looks like a tall screen on emulator(when Sonic is on the higher parts of the level it uses top screen, when he is lower it uses the bottom screen). With Rush Adventure they would need to work out replacement controls for the vehicle missions.

Let me guess the use of the Satam characters in the bonus stage.

Cool! I like how Amy still uses her hammer.

Also nice to see the Tails Game Gear games there.

Sonic Origins Plus Collection getting a physical release alone is beyond awesome for modern video game preservation and ease of accessibility. I especially appreciate the inclusion of Tails Adventure and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

Having Knuckles, Tails, and now Amy as playable characters is great too. Looking forward to finally playing Sonic CD when this comes out in June.

As for the original Sega Genesis Sonic games, I wonder how they'll compare to the Sonic Classic Collection on DS.

If the sales of this are good, maybe we'll finally get a Sonic the Hedgehog 5 next. I'd rather get that then another collection personally.

However, if we do get another collection, I think it should be a collection of Sonic's early 3D outings (think 3D Blast and Sonic R), up to Sonic Heroes. Maybe they can save the GBA and DS games for a plus version of that collection.

No Chaotix is disappointing. Would really like to see that get the HD widescreen treatment.

Spinball is included on Nintendo Switch Online's Genesis game library though, so I don't think that's the case. Unless there's somehow a difference in how the copyright is handled for a full remake as opposed to a port?

Yeah I'm pretty sure SEGA owns the Satam characters, it's part of the Archie comics cast that SEGA doesn't own (the ones made by Ken Penders), which doesn't include Sally etc.

So that then leads me to wonder what these alleged legal issues would be.
