Absolutely 100%! We live in a society where people tend to believe the alleged victims / accusers versus allowing a court system to sort out the facts and determine what is true and what is not.

I'll just say that these allegations are serious, deserve investigation, and if proven, are a sad stain on a briliant body of work. With that said, deserving of punishment.

The fact that one actor knows someone who claims to have been harrassed doesn't help Sono's case though.

Sion Sono is still a fantastic filmmaker and his movies are still worth seeing. You can still enjoy art by bad people if you are aware of how bad they are as a person. I don't support his actions though.

Which is a worn out cliche. If the allegations are decades old, there won't be a court to settle anything. Its still important to take them seriously.

I've been hearing this sort of allegations about One Piece's Live Action Zoro's actor Mackenyu lately in Japanese SMS and forums too, I wonder if those are just rumors (apparently his tax evasion crime was confirmed, but there's a whole dossier involving drugs, rape including sex with minors, and even possible criminal connections atm lol).

Then again, the person I've found behind the information leaking around looks to be like a Japanese Keemstar of some sort, so you never know.

Just FYI, the courts don't have the best track record of properly settling such matters, which is one of the reasons why sexual assault and harassment are so underreported.

Just like how Internet forums accepted Vic was guilty when he lost his court case and we didn't have to argue about it anymore.

Not just that but Tak Sakaguchi admitted on his YouTube account that he had been one of the actors who had organized a drinking party that led to Sion Sono assaulting someone.
