How nice of them to apologize after being called-out. Nothing will change though. Welcome to Japan.

Every week you see Japan apologizing for something. Cancel culture, when mixed with a culture of shame that Japan has, creates a powerful destructive combination.

Well that's just it. Apologizing is one thing. Actually doing something is another matter.

So it took a decade and a half to discover a law that was in effect when the company was started. They are not sorry, they are just sorry they got caught.

So all female employees of white fox is under 26 and they don't want older women to work with them? I can understand if they don't want older animators but they should add male in that policy too, But I'm not surprised because this is happening everywhere in the world

I am not surprised that up until now, Japan has gender discrimination due to their long-standing ideology on gender roles. Furthermore, their management system is another layer of discrimination as well... In all honesty, they may be VERY late on updating their company policies and whatnot, but what's more important now is the public to see the change that White Fox will do.
@Changeman I would say, it's really because their ideologies has been stuck with them for so long that... when Japan has been brought up to be part of the global village for globalization, a lot of their views are challenged.
AJ (LordNikon) Let's try to be optimistic, shall we? Japan may, in my opinion, take its time and be slow on changing some of their policies, views, and whatnot, but this might be what Japan needs -- pressure to change for the better.

Should we be surprised that a studio with "Fox" in its name is trying to hire young chicks???
(Note: the above was written for allegedly comedic purposes and in no way should be seen as condoning discriminatory hiring practises.)

I’ve worked in Tokyo for 8 years doing recruitment and now primarily focused on executive headhunting for both Japanese and international corporations. It’s not unheard of for clients to outright state both their gender preferences and age limits. A lot of times they use this in the guise of promoting gender diversity, but it’s par for the course. The worst is the Japanese companies tend to actually put the age range and rarely the desired gender on the job description. I always take it out and fight back for the right candidate regardless of either.

Ah yes, the most insidious form of cancel culture: getting in trouble for breaking the law.

People seem to be overlooking what's actually being said in the complaint and don't realize the issue was that they were discriminating against men by only seeking female applicants. The quote-retweets highlight men's experiences being turned away from certain positions because companies only wanting to hire women for those roles. As a general rule of thumb, only hiring based on sex, race, or any other superficial trait is pretty awful. It's also illegal. But people will continue to do it.

IKR. Considering part of the apology is about causing a scene/disturbance, if there were no disturbance, clearly an apology wouldn't be needed

Positively and negatively discriminating against women at the same time? First time I've seen it.
