Well, consider me a bit surprised. It's a title that at least has a good reception, but I was doubting if any of the new shows would be something that wasn't a sequel since Toonami has quite a few of those to choose from.

I remember someone on here said they had high doubts a show from Sentai would appear on Toonami ever again since they got bought out by AMC, glad to see that’s not the case

I assume this deal was completed before the AMC buyout. I imagine AMC does not want other cable channnels to air Sentai shows. Speaking of that I wonder if AMC is interested in launching their own anime block.

I might tune in...I might not...I've heard the dub is horrendous though...so I am wary.
Got the show on bluray years ago anyway....

The article does not mention the licence Toonami is using is from sentai. Remember that broadcast (tv/cable/dish) linences are negotiated separately from streaming/disc licenses. AFAIK the only company that routinely buys both is VIz Media. Heck, if in the coming months we do not see any sentai titles on analog AMC channels, you can bet they have only streaming licenses.

They'd better. Toonami could use some competition. Heck, I wouldn't mind if AMC used the HIDIVE branding for its anime lineup. I could imagine a branding like HIDIVE on AMC being used.

It may for it's TV airing, however given the Time Slot I think they will be fine airing it uncut.

While Made in Abyss is my favorite show from the past decade, I'm very unlikely to watch it on Toonami. But I'm still glad that they are licensing things that are good.

This is a welcome surprise. Never thought an anime like this would end up on Toonami, especially given their doubling-down on shonen titles the last few years. I do question how popular it will be given the audience mismatch, but Made in Abyss is a fantastic title to try and test the waters. I hope that they get to show the movie, too.

I'm surprised to see Made in Abyss on Toonami which is one of my favorite titles of the past decade but I wonder if they'll be able to air the movie given it's even more extreme than the show.

This license was likely made before the AMC buyout which the deal will probably take several months to finalize it. We probably won't see what effects it has on Toonami till next year.
