Dumb question, did Daigo get vaccinated or not? Also, are vaccines available in his age range in Japan?

Vaccination rollouts have been going very, very badly in Japan -- as of about a week ago, only 1.6% of the population has been vaccinated ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/05/04/why-is-japan-failing-so-badly-vaccinations/ ).
So while I don't know for sure, it's very unlikely Daigo has been vaccinated, and he probably hasn't been able to get vaccinated even if he's tried.

Only medical professionals and (as of quite recently) people over 65 (75 in some areas) are eligible to get the vaccine right now in Japan, so no, he would not have been able to get it.

Yeah that's not how disease and biology actually work.
Its a literal crapshoot that you'll be unaffected, have minor difficulties or on oxygen for a prolonged period. And that's without the variants in there mucking shit up...
But yeah...it doesn't sound like his case is very terrible...

For all we or Daigo knows he recovered. Still, there are plenty of people much younger than Daigo who have had recovered from COVID, but still had serious lingered health effects that they didn't find out till later.
