The kuru-kurusu girl is, in fact, the reason I quit the show halfway. So.Freaking.Annoying. Konomi is fine but other than the panther girl and the two senpais most of the climbers are infuriating unless they are getting their butts kicked. Jun's arc could have been interesting. It seemed to imply that her philosophy was a coping mechanism for her lack of friends but I didn't stay around to find out if I was right.

I don't blame you; by the time I was done, hearing "Kuru Kurusu!" activated my fight or flight response. I don't know if I'll ever fully heal.

Near the end I thought I was going to hear it in my nightmares. Hasn’t happened... yet. What made it even more insufferable was that every time she said it, the entire population of male extras would repeat it back.

I just found the mean girls rather boring. Like, "This is what you want to devote your energy to?"... uh, okay. And the older girls' "B's gonna be B's" reaction refreshing. If the only reason you have to be mean is to be mean... why bother giving them the time of day?

Spider-bunny girl was kinda funny- but mostly, again, silly.

Cat -girl had her moments. She wanted a rivalry but also wanted to win through her own skill.

The speedy blonde girl was a good contrast, I liked to see that Ku-Ku- for Kurusu Puffs couldn't stand up to her positivity.

And Muscly Awkward Cool Girl was nice.

Certainly far from anything great, but I'd watch a sequel.

Your review made me realize that all this time I wanted a good, realistic tomboys show that would be a good representation of these girls' live.

All I can say it that is isn't the worst series I've ever watched but it's far from the best. The characters were ok but not very interesting and the story wasn't very compelling.

I feel like the show was most interesting when it was focused on the main girls and just on them learning about rock climbing. I also liked Jun and Konomi's friendship which seemed like they were ship teasing them but not willing to go further with that and I think the show would have been more interesting if they did actually make them a couple. Jun's arc where she's struggling with getting over her losing the tournament and her insecurities would have been more interesting if it wasn't all shown mostly off screen. I thought the cat pun girl was the most interesting of the rival girls because it seemed like she actually did care about Konomi and Jun and wanted to beat them when they're at their best and it seemed like the show towards the end was starting to develop her character more but it ended up coming too late for the show to just end. But I don't understand why so many sports anime shows like having rival characters that are mean and vindictive and take the sport way too seriously especially at a high school level when it shouldn't be such a big deal and they're not even close to performing professionally or anything. I thought the show was just fine and I did like the homage to classic NES RPG games in the ending credits animation though it's a bit random when the theme for the show was puzzle games. As far as sports shows with a female cast that are aimed at an otaku audience go, I liked Harukana Receive better than this show.

I liked this show, but I do agree it was fairly forgettable as a whole. I liked the main cast, Nono was my favorite but Jun did grow on me once she ate a bit of humble pie. Secondary characters were pretty dismal and I agree with the reviewer's comment about tossing them in an acid pit.

The fanservice shots weren't great but could have been worse. And anime needs more abs girls who are celebrated like they were here. Personally, as far mild-fanservice sports anime go, I preferred HaruKana Receive a bit more.

I don't know. The show a little while ago with the girls in the Astronomy / Geology Club went much further in shipping (just short of declaring they were definitely couples). It didn't really help it much and it will also ultimately be just as forgettable... just as I've already forgotten the show's name.
