I'm surprised it took this long for something to happen, as soon as I saw it I thought "wait that's like exactly the same as BtB wtf".
Dunno why they felt the need to copy the ed from an anime from 7 years ago though. |

Honestly, it was so blatant I just assumed it was on purpose (like an homage or something).

WOW. Watching both of them back to back was like.... yikes, did they really not think people were going to notice?

A lot of commenters on Youtube thought that it was a tribute to KyoAni after what happened to them in 2019. I’m actually surprised it’s not a tribute. The fact that it took them this long to respond adds to the confusion.

When I first heard about it, I thought it was a homage of sorts. But it turns out it's actually almost a shot by shot remake.

Beyond the Boundary is one of the few KyoAni shows I've never watched in full (I did check out the first episode, but I was disappointed by it), so when I watched the second season of 7SEEDS, the ED similarities went completely unnoticed by me. Now that I've compared the two sequences, I'm as astonished as you guys that it took this long for someone to take action. I guess it goes to show how few people bothered watching 7SEEDS on Netflix.

How this anime got a second season is beyond me, because it's really bad. Even the majority of the CG anime (which I hate) are better than this series.

A lot of anime I like does these kinds of shot by shot homages on purpose (i.e. Madoka Rebellion has numerous shots from Utena peppered in) so it's kind of weird to see it treated seriously.

The similarities are pretty blatant. You’d think they’d at least have the character not make the exact same outstretched-arm gesture for the entire thing. They probably could have gotten away with it if she just stood there instead.

My theory is that it was planned and budgeted as a 24-episode show from the beginning, and Netflix just happened to split it in two seasons. That also appears to be the case with Kengan Ashura and Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045. |

I'm super curious about it now! Does anyone have a link I could check to see 7Seeds ending?

I haven't watched either show but looking them up... Holy crap it's so blatant. It truly was ripped frame by frame in some parts. That's so pathetic.

There’s a difference between a homage and straight up copying the entire thing. A homage is something like how a lot of anime and movies have their characters do a reference to that one bike scene from Akira. It’s a brief shot, an obvious pop culture reference, and usually done out of love/admiration for the original work. What the 7Seeds staff did here is a more serious case of art theft, where they just straight up took the concept and look of Beyond the Boundary’s ending. And unlike a homage, there’s no indication that it was meant to be a shout out or a reference to the anime or KyoAni. Someone just took some scenes from the original ED and slapped the 7Seeds characters onto it. |
