Is it just me who thinks this will not end up having the best possible results? The WSJ authors are basically competitors. And they will be the ones choosing their next antagonist? I fear that any phaenomenal work, if it appears, will be buried. The winner will most probably be something that seems interesting enough to not allow them to lose face but not interesting enough to threaten their own jobs. For the readers, that must mean another medium point which will be either get better with time or forgotten.
If you need good works, just change your editors and hire people who will be able to offer a fresh look. That should do the trick easily. |

ONe must wait and see of the results. I don't think they are quite envious of who may appear next, and I don't think each mangaka listed are that antagonist to each other. |

That... is not how this competition works at all. The winner is not going to be serialized in jump, just the oneshot they draw will be published. Also, only two of these judges are currently serialized in jump and are among the most popular ones. They're completely secure even if several huge hits appear in the magazine. Sabotaging entries brings them no benefit whatsoever. |

Maybe someone will finally present an idea of a ultra muscular girl in setting similar to Fairy Tail/Black Clover. Now that’d be something!
Although, I’d prefer it being a full fledged long running series rather than just some one-shot. |

While it's just a oneshot published, quite a few of the winners do end up with serialized manga with Shueisha. When you consider Tsukasa Hojo, Yoshihiro Togashi, Nobuhiro Watsuki, Takehiko Inoue, Hiroyuki Takei, Takeshi Obata and Eichiro Oda have been some of the past winners and runners-up for the regular Tezuka award in the past. However this version probably wouldn't even need to be sabotaged as it would be very unlikely to serialize a foreign language series due to logistics issues |

Unless the two winners are fluent in Japanese or hire Japanese translators or the one shot gets so popular that Shuheisha allows them to work on a serialized series, but we shall see. But either way, they wouldn’t even try to sabotage it. |

Not that the judging panel also includes (as it always has) the editor-in-chief. Any sabotage attempts would be dealt with by the big boss.
But in the many, many years they've been running the Tezuka awards, I don't think it's ever been a problem. All of the authors involved understand that the magazines sell better when there are more good titles. Actively working to reduce the quality of the other stories running in the same bundle as your own only hurts everyone in the end. |
