Looks like it's going to be the anime equivalent of Zootopia or something. But unfortunately the CG animation is in my opinion hideous, the character designs are good, but the movements are slow and sluggish in movement with a low frame rate...why is it that most CGI I've seen in anime look like this? Anime hyper

I'd rather have it in 2D, the animation is so distracting it's literally distracting me from the story/characters.

Seems things are getting close. The manga is out so people are going to have to wait until fall to see the anime. I have no idea how this series will pan out. I've read different reviews for it from those that read the books. Don't know what regular anime fans will think of it. But furry fans should be at home with it. Though I don't know which I should take a look at first.

Houseki no Kuni definitely had the best CGI in any anime I think I've seen. I remember it being the main thing people were commenting on about it at the time.

I'm not against anthro stuff, but these character designs are super off-putting to me. Maybe it's the mostly animal heads, not bodies?

I feel like CGI fit that show perfectly, character meant look made out of crystal and movement didn't need to match 2D animation.

I heard it was good, but from what I saw of it, whilst I thought it was alright I still couldn't really get much out of it because of the animation. I know animation doesn't make an anime necessarily, but still, I just don't find it appealing, it doesn't move in a remotely convincing way in my eyes. Criticism is not hate, and the manga actually does interest me, I'll pick that up once it gets licensed in the US.

This still looks a lot better to me than most of Polygon's stuff. It takes time and practice for Japan to improve CGI. Western animation wasn't suddenly experts at CGI overnight. There was a long period between when we first got Reboot and then the first Toy Story.

it just felt more like you were criticising the CGI based on what you had said prior. But I guess I misunderstood. sorry.
