Otakus are usually stereotyped as geeky, fat, obsessive, anti-social, or just plain weird. Do you fit that stereotype?
I don't think I fit the stereotype-to an extent. I'm a little geeky, but I'm not fat. I'm quite thin and am an athlete (but not a jock, I fence). I'm a bit shy, but not completely anti-social. Everyone is a little strange, so yeah I'm not wacky...I guess.
But really, what is your definition of otaku? To some it might be someone who likes anime or someone completely obsessed with it. Is being an otaku a good thing to you or is it insulting? Otaku literally means nerd or geek in japanese, but some fans often mistake it for being a super anime fan. Isn't that a little annoying?

I was trying to put the most common stereotypes associated with otakus. I'm sorry if that isn't good enough for you.

Otaku:

anime, video games, or computer and rarely leaves home. |
Do I fit this stereotype? Im pretty sure I do. I could stand to loose some
weight ( im fat ). I collect the s**t of lots of stuff. I don't think im geeky but im sure
alot of people call me that. I leave the house all the time thou, so im not anti -
social. And I Love Anime!!! It wouldn't bother me if someone called me
otaku, but yes the sterotype sucks, and the definition is almost dead on.

I'm a bit of a geek, and I am overweight. I collect like a maniac. That's as far as I fit, though.

Im a bit weird and obsessive (luckily few people knows it) but Im not geeky, anti-social nor fat (must be genetics because I eat a lot). I collect a bit, but no figurines or posters, only things that are somehow related to the story and their limited editions. I take extreme cares of everything I own, not just my anime stuff. I barely touch my video games/animes/and other dvds cases and all the discs are stored somewhere safe. Another example would be my books, I barely open them and even if I own them, I sometime rent them at the library because I don't want to use mine. I think that's a bit obsessive, so in the end I guess I am a bit, but not completly.

I don't know if I fit the stereotype.
I'm not over-weight, but I am really shy around people.
And I only started collecting anime recently.. haha.

I'm fat, I'm pretty geeky, not sure about obsessive, I talk to people for no reason and high five random people that I walk by so I'm not anti-social, and I am just plain wierd

Yeah, I got with the second definition. The first one is more of the public's point of view. I'm a gaming fanboy, and to some point anime, but not enough were I'll think nothing and do nothing but my favourite hobby.

Yeah, a little bit, actually. I guess I'm a little geeky, but, even though I love anime and tokusatsu, I'd hardly call myself "obsessed" with anything.

I don't really fit any of the otaku stereotypes (I'm not really that obsessive or geeky, and I'm not fat at all), however, I am extremely shy and don't usually talk that much, but I'm not anti-social. I do watch anime a lot, but I'm not obsessed with it to the point where it's my only hobby. I consider myself just a casual fan and nothing more than that.

I'm not a geek, Geeks are smart and i'm dumb. I've started college and i already failed three classes, therefore being call a geek is really not in my place. Shit i even dropped a class because i hate reading.
I'm not fat either. I probably weight between 130 pds and 150 pds.
Obsessive, well yes i am. I am obsess about money and another thing which i think is not appropriate to say in this forum
Anti- social?! Well i can't date ugly girls, does that count?! but i got nothing against talking with people.
wasting my time watching anime is weird!!! unfortunately i can't stop it., But hey we never know. I used to love playing Games, even had a whole collections and stuff but now i can't even stand it.

That is actually wrong. They are either fat or very thin, like being 5'7" and weighing 125 pounds or something to that extent. That being because they'll be lost in the otakudom and forget to eat anything.
On the note of the stereotype, I am very obsessive. If I am playing a game, I will not stop until I finish a level. For example, I just started playing Starcraft, and the levels on there have been taking almost two hours to complete one mission. And I will play it until I achieve my objective. Otherwise I buy manga the living hell out of my credit card.

I don't think that I fit the typical look of an Otaku, but as we know perception and reality are quite different. Personally I am of average build, white (not pale) but I do have overdefined shoulders as compare to the rest of my body. Like Fighterholic I do have mentally where when I start a level I want to finished it before I quit and save....although in the past year I have been better about manging my time. That said I do get in some trouble with spending a little too much time watching TV/DVDs.
I wouldn't say that I am anti-social either, rather I am shy when I meet someone the first time. It's normally takes me a day or so that I can break out of my shell and not be on the defense.

I thought otaku meant someone that is obsessed with something, an anime fan, or something to do with a honorable house. Anyways I'm far from being overweight. People have called me weird, but I can't recall being called a geek. Not to much obsessed with anime, however when I'm at work I tend to organize things even if I have to do the previous persons job over. As far as being anti-social, yeah I am for the most part. For example I don't make it a point to go to work related functions or just start talking to random people then again if someone came up to me and started a conversation I'd try to humor them.
