I figured that E3 would be the place where they announced that anything remotely resembling anime artstyle with a rating more than 12+ would be banned from all Sony platforms. Guess they will announce that somewhere else then.

It doesnt matter, we dont need a anti-consumer company at E3
A company that is non-transparent for Devs and Publisher and a Company that thinks they are above a Law and play the Morality Police for the whole world Screw Sony and their new policy |

Yeah, like screwing smaller japanese game developers over by having them to explain their games in english somewhere during the night, then still having to censor stuff that's fine on NINTENDO platforms, because it's anime and bikinis are too evil for adult players. "For the players" became a joke. I agree, I don't want to see Sony there as I'm pretty angry at them for what they recently do. And I say that as someone, who mainly plays on Sony consoles, is a big playstation fan and always recommended playstation products to friends. Still also blaming them for canceling the crunchy partnership. |

Considering the recent censorship incidents on the PS4 it sort of makes sense that Sony is skipping E3 next year. I don't know if it is a good sign in that they know that they messed up or a bad sign in that they are planning even more censorship changes to their licensing policy.

E3's importance has been going down for a few years already. For the companies, it brings too many unnecessary expenses in order to fight over attention from journalists when you can just put a video on YouTube and get the same reception.

Gotta love people thinking Sony is skipping e3 because of some obscure fanservice that 100 people will buy. The most logical explanation is they don't have anything to show. With the PS5 dropping in 2020, all the main focus will be over there. The last thing they need is another PS3 disaster. Also, Nintendo's direct approach is starting to make E3 look outdated.

I mean, I don't think the size of the audience justifies what Sony is doing, but you are right in that is completely irrelevant to E3. I mean, just look at this year's E3, what were the focuses: Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, Spider-man, Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 2, etc. Sure, a good deal of Japanese games were represented but none of the sort that would be affected by Sony's new policy. |

Wait, what's this about Sony and censorship? I'm afraid I'm kinda out of the loop on this one. Explain, please?

Awwww... I'd still have liked some good long demos, though I guess they can also do that in a 'Nintendo Direct' kind of format...
Maybe Sony will come out big during the Game Awards? We know Kojima will... From the looks of it I put things in the following schedule: April 2019 - Days Gone Summer 2019 - Dreams Fall 2019 - Death Stranding Early 2020 - The Last of Us Part 2 Summer 2020 - Ghost of Tsushima Winter 2020 - PlayStation 5 - Horizon 2 / Gran Turismo 7 PS5 Launch Window - Bloodborne 2 / New Fumito Ueda game In between 2020 I suspect February Meeting for PS5 announcement. E3 2020 for final hardware reveal. Sep 2020 for Japanese PS5 focus. November 2020 launch.
Long story short, more or less - Fanservice-y Japanese games (well technically all Japanese games) must now go through an approval/certification process that involves Sony's American department. Which largely sees many things as a no-no and will necessitate their removal or censoring - apparently that's even if they only want to publish it in Japan and not overseas! On top of that, the process is more complicated as forms and feedback etc. must be done in English, which many smaller Japanese devs naturally don't have the resources for. |

https://twitter.com/uitachibana/status/1055308002520117253 Note that they even censored her belly button and that was in a CERO D rated game which is the Japanese equivalent of an M rated game. Some of the PS4 games that have been censored due to this new policy are Date A Live, Dragon Star Varnir, Mary Skelter 2, Nekopara, Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, Warriors Orochi 4, and Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs: Steam Dungeon. |

I fully expect Sony to just rip off the Nintendo Directs and pretend they're new

PS came out on America in Fall 1995 then Fall 2000 for PS2 then Fall 2006 for PS3 and Fall 2013 for PS4. They should put PS5 in Fall 2021 for consistency.

Sony's censorship policies may have damaged their reputation for skipping the E3 event, but since they are now own fault for try to censor things that are offensive for younger gamers, there could a lots of protests right now anytime soon or anyday.
