I'm very happy for MHA. I hope to see Berserk Vol.39 somewhere high on the list for the July sales.

They didn't forget it. The first sentence mentions how Vol.13 topped the list.

Are Batman's comic selling well? I always thought comics weren't as big sellers as manga. Because when you dominate a top 20 like that, you are hard to beat for sure.
I assume even TG and Zelda sells better then Batman.

TG considering it has been topping the chart ever since it was published in NA. Bookscans doesn't tell the whole picture because last hear MHA was apparently doing better but in the year end result MHA was 2nd.

Last year maybe. But right now in 2018, MHA is just way to dominant. TG is a strong seller though I'm sure, but the buzz around it is much weaker.

The printed AoT manga probably still sell well here. Obviously the height was probably during AoT season 1.

I mean, I like MHA and all, but how the heck does that count as an "adult graphic novel?" It's a shonen manga. If it was an American comic it'd probably be "older teen," if not just regular teen. A lot of the others on there don't really fit the category either (RWBY? Splatoon?)
Maybe by "adult" they mean "has drawings but isn't a children's picture book."

They're probably broadly defining any graphic novel that's aimed at a teenage audience as "adult." MHA is shonen but it's rated 13+ in the US.

Diamond Comics (the sole distributor of US comic issues) frames it in a way that they are, but the truth is most comics have problems selling 50,000, let alone 100,000 copies. It's why comic book stores keep closing.
Most comic book journalists won't even cover manga though.

Yeah, MHA isn't for adults. It should be noted that the majority of Western comics are intended for adults unlike in Japan where Shonen dominates.

DC and Marvel comics have traditionally been written in the PG-realm. For most of their history it was because of the Comics Code essentially forced them to, but even after that was abolished they still were written with PG content in mind. No swearing, no nudity, nothing too graphic in the violence department. Marvel launched the MAX imprint which was aimed at adults with much more gratuitous content in an attempt to aim at a more adult audience but it was met with mixed success and eventually shut down.
I would say nowadays comics are written even tamer and with even less objectionable content than they were just over 10 years ago. In Marvel's case, it's no doubt due to the Disney brand association.

Batman continues to be DC's best selling title, although overall the comic market has been declining every year. Batman is the only title that can sell regularly around 100,000 copies and not be a #1 or milestone issue.
MHA is more popular, I would say without a doubt. Especially worldwide, where American comics have even less of a market.

If anyone was at ComicCon the My Hero Academia panel pretty much filled up instantly. They only had a 1000 seat room, and the line outside was still super huge. It was crazy. I wonder how many were stuck outside...
