Wow, never thought we'd get this licensed, particularly given its age.

Glad it's being released in omnibuses, otherwise, I would likely have doubted Dark Horse's capacity to actually finish publishing the series.
I would've thought this sounded more like a Seven Seas sort of title, but I am glad it's being licensed by someone! I guess Dark Horse has decided to get back into manga lately then I feel like they really dropped off there for a while. Now if only they would finish Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service and Eden, among other titles, right?

After watching the Anime I researched the Manga ending, which is much different from the Anime and is way sadder. I personally won't be picking this up since I don't want to go on a feels trip and like the Anime ending better.

I read scans yearsssssss back, and I honestly liked the anime, to the manga. Manga art I... did not care for, extra... characters I didn't care for, and just didn't like where the story went, although expanded on way more.
Although I didn't care for the manga (happy with my blu ray), it's great news for those that want to pick it up!

I was always curious as to why Elfen Lied's manga never came over here before, especially when the anime was more popular a decade or so ago.

A good question, and one that I have no idea why, either.

I always chalked its lack of an official English release up to the trifecta of gore, nudity, and underage or underage-looking characters making licensors uncomfortable with the possibility of angry parental backlash. It always seemed like manga with two of the three could exist in the Anglosphere, but all three cropping up aborted releases at the time if it happened frequently (like Narutaru or Reiko the Zombie Shop). It always felt like anime could squeak by, but they were more reluctant to take a chance on printed forms longer than a few volumes. Maybe because they could slap a recommended MA or 16+ or whatever on a DVD box and parents could understand it being analogous to the MPAA, but not ratings printed on a book? No idea, but that was what I always figured.
