Sadly the Japanese cartridge doesn't have English text (nor voices, but I really don't care one bit about dubs), so I'm a bit hesitant on purchasing it. I don't want to support NIS, but I want the game and to support Falcom...

Even after all flak they've gotten from their train wreck treatment of Ys 8, they still can't fix something like translation/text issues before the release?
Kill me.

This would be why so many of us, having been burned by them before, were extremely skeptical of any attempts to make things right. Their track record doesn't exactly engender confidence.

I get that porting the game to the Switch need some touch ups with making sure text fits and such....wait I just said text didn't I? So why are there issues with untranslated portions? Seriously NISA, this is what, the third time you dropped the ball with Ys 8?

It's there a way to sue them or at least ask Falcom to stop using them for future translations of their works?

Unbelievable, who the hell is checking this stuff to be ok to let out? Fixes? The embarrassing PC version is still waiting. Not to mention all of the glaring problems left with the translation. It's like they go out of their way to do an incompetent job. Such a big name game to outbid Xseed on and not only butcher once, but 3 times. If they really cared enough to make public pr apologies and promise to fix it the first time they should keep doing again and again until they get it right.

I feel like I have to defend NIS, at least for their PC port of YsVIII. Yes, the game was released in a terrible state but within two weeks it was patched to a degree that it now runs almost completely fine. It would've certainly better for their reputation if they had took the time and released the game two or three weeks later in a better condition but it's not as if buyers of the game were given a pile of shit and were left with it. NIS fixed the problems quickly and it seems like they do the same now with the Switch version so my outrage about the unpolished release version is rather mild.

Nice for them going back and fixing those mistakes.

Why would you assume the Japanese version would have English text?

They did delay it for 7 months because of performance issues, the game was considered worse in the actual release.
It's like they did nothing during all this time, they only concentrated themselves after the release. They should have done those patches during this 7 months delay.

A) "runs almost completely fine" is definitely not good enough.
B) "runs almost completely fine" for some people, but not everyone.
I will admit that they haven't dropped it yet, so that's nice I guess. But, they've had so much time to get this right and have proven time and time again that either they aren't skilled enough to handle something like this or they don't care enough to do a good job. (Or both.)
