Synopsis sounds bad. Another bad excuse to make a damn harem setting. This genre is ridiculously overrun.

After many years of Gonzo making little to no anime, the amount of productions they got this year had skyrocketed

I have no problem with harem but the premise of Conception sounds a bit crazy. It is a harem game but the goal is to have magical children that are used to fight monsters. It is like someone wanted to make a harem game and wanted to make a pokemon style game and they decided to split the difference.

I never watch harems or hentais, usually, but this crazy thing needs to be seen. So stupid and pervy. Thank u. <3

I was thinking about a Conception anime the other day. The first one was never released in English so I'll watch this. I would have preferred the second game though, especially since I love Alec and his relationship with the protagonist.

Huh, kind of weird timing on that since it's been a while since either game came out. I never played the first game since it didn't come out in the US, but the second one was enjoyable enough and I wasn't anywhere near the target demographic.
My familiarity is wholly with the sequel, but that one isn't remotely like Pokémon. It's more like a cross between Pikmin and Persona, with a dash of your standard special elite academy setting and poking fun at harem character types. Basically, main dude is super special at a school of special people who are training to beat a weird group of monsters attacking. After running through a labyrinth Persona-style with your girl of choice, you'll spawn a tiny horde of children/chibi RPG class types who get stronger depending on your relationship level with the "mother." The tiny horde can be assigned to have certain personalities (defend the party, attack all monsters on sight, heal, etc) based on their classes, and serve to buff the rest of your standard-sized party. You can bring whoever's children along with you, but they give extra buffs if you bring the "mother" to the current child along. Children made with mothers you regularly bring on missions have the ability to get stronger and unlock more complex character classes. They'll eventually hit a level cap based on how much mom liked you when they were created, and then you can retire them and they go out into the overworld to open stores to sell you stuff or send you money periodically in care packages with letters. It was a little clunky at times, but it was surprisingly fun (and I usually don't care for harem games of any kind) since it was hard to know what to expect in its weird premise and setting. The original seems like a different kind of beast than the setting I know, but there's some potential in there to maybe have some fun. I remember the soundtrack being pretty catchy, at least. |

Well that was fun. If your post is gone it's because I cleaned up this "discussion". People are allowed to not like a show or genre and say it sucks or is done to death at this point. Conversely, if you are going to mention how a genre or show sucks you better back it up with some actual opinions and not just a flamebait post that entices others to pick up said bait and run with it. So how about all of you getting all riled up take a chill pill, think happy thoughts, and relax a bit.

The 2nd game was pretty fun (never finished it though...)
I've wanted to play the first game ever since it came out but it never got localised... It'd be nice if it did now that it's getting an anime... Honestly the biggest bonus about this series is that the designs are by Shinichirou Otsuka whose art I love. The babies are super adorable, and the girls are so pretty. Anyway, having never played the first game I can't say for sure but the second game was tacky but I think it knew it was being tacky. I mean, the song and video that plays when you classmant with the girl to produce the babies... was tacky as hell. (Not going to link to a video of the visuals because it's vaguely nsfw) plus the song at the end when the baby has been born... CONGRACHLATIONS ON YOUR NEW ARRIVAL! The babies were pretty cute though, because they have different personalities and talk about stuff like their mama and papa and stuff with eachother... |
