Easily my favorite premiere of the season so far. These three have quickly taken their place among Yotsbua and Naru (Barakamon) as my favorite anime/manga children. It also doesn't hurt that my sense of humor hasn't really evolved beyond a child's either, as all the poop jokes are hitting the exact right note for me. Looking forward to following this one for the rest of the season.

Yeah real fun show. I wouldn't mind if the pacing was a smidge faster, but it's not a big deal.

Personally what sell the show to me is the adults, they're just nice peoples who understand the girls and just enjoy watching them play around (this is also what I would consider one of Yostuba great strength). This really help sell the world to me, a lot of similar story would be essentially devoid of any adults.

I wish ANN staffers would stop talking about this season as being saturated by cute girl shows. It's like they're implying it's possible to have too many cute girl slice of life series in a season.

I haven't seen the episode but, assuming the parade story is the same as in the manga, one minor thing I liked is that spoiler[you get to see a different set of friends for Yui, who is actually in a different school than the other girls. That's something you don't often see in "cute girls do cute things" shows, the same person being in multiple circles of friends.]

It's a small touch that makes this depiction of childhood seem a little more honest than many others.

Seeing how much of the last episode wasn't animated, I actually had to check what episode number it was. The curse of Four strikes again!

Here, it could be less than a matter of budget and they just didn't feel like putting any of those people enjoying the festival into motion or the dances or the parade or the crowd surrounding the Colors watching the motionless dance in the motionless parade. Or they couldn't get it done in time or they just couldn't decide what dance to do. But I'm not rating their motive or level of dedication here.

In Slice of Life series, if you can't show the life in action, what do you have left? First half, B-, second half F. Average it to a D+.

^ Hmm, that's a bit disappointing to know, especially considering that Mitsuboshi Colors is a SilverLink show.

The fourth episodes of both seasons of Non Non Biyori, also animated by SilverLink, were standout episodes (both featuring "sad Renge" scenes) where I don't remember there being a drop in animation quality (and the second season's 4th episode also had a rainy day sequence that looked quite beautiful), but maybe SilverLink received more production money from the Non Non Biyori publisher than the money they got from Mitsuboshi Colors' publisher?

(That'd be Media Factory for Non Non Biyori vs. ASCII Media Works for Mitsuboshi Colors, although both publishers are really just different manga imprints owned by Kadokawa.)

Probably the most important development in Mitsuboshi Colors this week is that HIDIVE has added subtitles translating the lyrics of the theme song, and gosh is it cute.

Have been listening to this opening multiple times before I watch each episode ,I was kind wondering when they were going to start actually rolling out the subtitles.

Kotoha just smashing down the paper airplanes that Saito was launching was pretty funny.
Obviously this show's main strength is the chemistry between it's character's and the situations they get themselves into.

Kotoha has a 3DS, not a DS, you can see the roundness of the shape and the dual camera on the top.

Man, who knew Kotoha was bad at computer games? I actually felt a little bad for her. It's the first time in the series we've seen any kind of vulnerability from her.

The reveal of Kotoha's weakness was two parts hilarious and feeling bad for her, because it is clear that it would be a really big deal to her. Which plays off her usually more aggressive attitude..

Probably most unrealistic that a cat would take pictures like that, but it was cute.

The pocket tissue skit was one of my favorites so far. The way each of their personalities was conveyed through the way they attempted to trade for lottery tickets had me almost literally rolling on the floor laughing. Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's implied that Yui doesn't really have close friends there.
