Virtual Console has Pokemon Gold and Silver and it makes sense they would use Silver since was the game that Iwata saved not the remake

Well yeah? Gold and Silver just came out on Virtual Console, and the story the developer tells you in game is about how Iwata helped with the development of those games. It wouldn't really track as well if it was the Gen 4 remake, not to mention it's a lot more tedious to get Pokemon from HG/SS up to Gen 7 at this point than from Gen 2. I imagine it's Silver specifically possibly because it was Iwata's preferred version?

Wow, I didn't know that. Iwata really was a man of many talents, I'll be forever grateful for everything he did.

Satoru Iwata was a man whose impressive talents in game development technology made vast differences for the better throughout the World of Gaming. The world was devastated when his illness ended his life so prematurely. May Mr. Iwata-san rest peacefully knowing that his lead contributions to the Nintendo Switch has brought a renewed feeling of joy to Nintendo and gamers worldwide.
