This was a neat collaboration to see! Thanks for the news as always. With respect, there was one tiny thing that stuck out oddly to me in this artcile:
I believe that word should be "karuta" as that is the card game sport the characters play in Chihayafuru. Thanks again for these special event works between mangaka. I really enjoy seeing them. |

Great collaboration and very welcome write up. Many exciting developments surrounding both series.
Karuta is a far more common spelling but carta is still used as well. As the referenced source in a related Wikipedia article about Karuta indicates, there are etymological reasons for its usage: "Karuta (かるた, from Portuguese carta ["card"])". The source referenced in the article is: Sakomura, Tomoko's "Japanese Games of Memory, Matching, and Identification." In Asian Games: The Art of Contest, edited by Colin Mackenzie and Irving Finkel, 253-71. New York: Asia Society, 2004. (pp. 267–269, though the attributed quote appears on p. 109). Imagine if Conan and Chihayafuru had an actual crossover.

This is pretty adorable~. x'D
Also, Suetsugu is hardcore, needing no prelim sketch. Dang, lol. I want to be her one day. >u< I hope to sit down and properly re-start and stay caught up with Chihayafuru one day. |
