That's a shame lol. Grats to the people that want a dub. I would've been personally happier with a quicker, sub-only release. Don't attack me for my opinions, I know it's selfish.

I knew Funimation would reach their goal but I thought that it would take at least a week but to my surprise they reached $150,000 in 3.5 days which shows that there really is an interest in Escaflowne getting a new dub well I guess now we wait for March 31 to see what happens next.

Nearly $153,000 in just less than three days. That's simply incredible!
There's a high probability that Funimation's new dub is going to feature mostly, if not all, new seiyuu...

I'll bet they'll reach the $500,000 stretch goal too. (All of the stretch goals are simply gravy though.)
Whether you're in support of companies like FUNimation doing crowdfunding or not, what's certain is that dubs, indeed, are in high demand. Or at least that there are enough people who like them and can pay a chunk of money to rapidly close the goal on a crowdfunding campaign.

Which is probably going to happen a lot now. Other anime companies are going to be looking very closely at this. Hopefully this goes more in the direction of getting dubs and releases for series we never would have otherwise, and not just having every dub paid for via crowdfunding.
And if this at all helps Hyouka get a dubbed (or any) release, i'm all for it.
Yes, i'm still bitter about it not being licensed.

Poor you. If only there were some way to buy the DVD/Blu-ray, switch the audio to Japanese, and turn the subtitles on. Funimation is so inconsiderate when it comes to sub-only fans.
Ah, I agree with you other guys. I don't see Funimation getting Ocean Group back for this one. I would have loved it if they did, but Ocean is deader than dead right now, and Funimation wants to re-release this quickly.

If people think they'd hire Ocean they're dreaming. They don't know how that would work out, its a gamble. They will dub in-house as usual to make sure its done for the November release. Probably saves money over outsourcing, they've done it many times and know how long it will take & cost with their own crew.

I don't know about definitely. This was a kickstarter than wouldn't have been done without support. If the fans, who gave their money for this, want Ocean, I'm certain that Funimation will at least try to get some actors from their pool. I only think they'll make the attempt though. No definites.

3.5 days fantastic news! While I may not want to see big companies like funimation do this all the time as they have the money, I hope this sends a clear message to all those companies who think that there's not an audience for a dub for a particular show to see that dub fans vote wirh their wallet and to give us a chance and to show you there's a market rather then you auto assuming it's too risky. Of course this anime in a particular seems to be a popular classic and it's success doesn't mean that if say sentai set of a Kickstarter for "is the order a rabit?" Dub that it would succeed but it's clear that dub fans have money and if it's too risky to dub everything since history tried that and nearly killed off the NA industry (along with other factors) then try something like this before just assuming there's no market or its too risky.
I'll end my babbling haha but congrats again funimation and I truly hope this is a start for other true smaller companies (or sentai filmworks >_>) to see and not auto wrote off the market as other fans seem to write off how large the dub market is already.

From what i've heard there's a lot of people backing the project who aren't dub fans but rather just want a pretty CE release of Escaflowne.

Was there anything wrong with the old dub to warrant a redub and this Kickstarter really? I enjoyed the old dub.
