Uh, well eating a banana has always been a bit suggestive. Kind of hard for it not to be. Corndogs too for that matter.

Awww I came here just to say that! But really, laughing at sex joke in kid cartoon is one of life great pleasure, don't mess with it. Also it's literally victimless, for the joke to be uncomfortable the person need to understand it, meaning there not confronted with idea there unfamiliar with. Also are they really examining Hidamari sketch? |

I can understand if the said character licking the banana gesture because that one really close to porn but I dont find anything offensive with that scene?

The scenes in the article are probably not from the anime that the complaints were about because that was not identified. If the article wanted to show a scene of a character eating a banana it should have used Miharu in Girls Bravo.

Read it again, it says a "similar scene" appears in yo kai watch, the incident the article is reporting on is something about a boy turning into a girl then eating a banana. |

I've seen suggestive banana eating in other anime, but the Yokai Watch scene just looks like a pigman eating a banana in a quite normal fashion, or as normal as a pigman might look eating a banana if such a thing existed. A pigman, I mean. Bananas do exist.

I see nothing wrong with the piggy. Just looks happy to finally eat a banana and peels it off slowly to give the moment suspense.

To clarify: The scene in Yo-Kai Watch has a male pig-man turn into a pig..lady? after one of the cat monsters strikes a pressure point on its foot. Then it eats a banana. The bit is also a parody of Fist of the North Star.
So while the these complaints are always anonymous and usually do not outright identify the show, it is very likely that Yo-Kai Watch is the anime at hand. |

I presume in the shots preceding the screencaps of the banana-eating, it's a little more obvious that the pigman is now a pig-lady? And, by "obvious", I mean "her" chest-size expands? I mean, I can see in the screencap that the pigman is now drawn with eyelashes, which I presume is another indication of a gender-switch, but I've always found that bit of classic "cartoon shorthand" ridiculous as guys have eyelashes too. |

Japanese criticism is weird, because although there's a lot of weird sexual things in anime that probably should be called out, this seems so, so minor. Like, on one hand I want to defend the critics' right to push their complaints but I kinda wish they would focus them on something that matters instead.
