I get that the string was a huge joke a while back, but it's not even that pronounced in the actual show. Her chest is the center of focus most of the time with the string staying inanimate.

It's a fictional text that only somewhat resembles kana (only a few characters), which is too jumbled up to mean anything in Japanese anyway.

How ARE these knives illuminated anyway? I can see this sort of knife being a potential small market for cosplayers and collectors, as weaponry with glowing text inscribed on them is a pretty common thing in fantasy and science fiction. (Not to mention TRON Lines, of course.)

Light(s) on the inside with thinner/missing plastic at the lit places. It's a bit harder to pull off without compromising the integrity of the item.
