WTF seriously, Taglish? I feel weird reading Tagalog manga but I know I'll be able to live with it eventually, but Taglish? Kris Aquino-talk, anyone? I hope I'm wrong with this. Couldn't PSICOM just translate it to English if they can't do pure Tagalog?

I gave up on looking for tanbokon/or any kind of published manga here in the PH. Instead, sorry, I guess I collected digital rips but if there's local store selling standalone bundles then I'm more than willing to pay for them, although this is just WISHFUL thinking since PH doesn't give too much credit on mangas.

PH bookstores, if they have manga, only sell the popular ones and even then their selection of manga hardly fills a whole bookshelf. You're lucky if you find two rows filled with manga. The largest collection of manga in the PH I've seen so far is in Powerbooks in Festival Mall Alabang. They have all the VIZ volumes of Naruto, Bleach, Samurai X and One Piece.
My real issue with these manga though is that they are way too expensive! Heck, The Book Depository's manga are cheaper compared to theirs. I bought 2 volumes of Shaman King online from TBD for 7USD each because Fullybooked was charging me 11USD each for them. PSICOM will sell their manga for less than P200 so I'm definitely buying from them. Hopefully the translation is at least tolerable if not real good. And hopefully, cheaper manga will make more people want to buy manga. |

Nah, they'll probably use Taglish to keep terms like '3D maneuver gear' or those attack names in fairy tail, um, readable... otherwise they would be ridiculously long. Not sure about making another English localization when it already exists. I'm thinking this is more along the lines of making 'pinoy versions' of these manga.

Fully Booked tends to have more variety in its manga section (as opposed to the mostly Shounen Jump stuff at Powerbooks), though that depends on which branch you go to. The main branch in Bonifacio Global City and the Promenade branch in Greenhills are pretty good. These days I usually buy manga from Planet X Comics by reserving a week ahead on their Facebook page. Comic Odyssey in Robinsons Galleria also has a sizable manga selection. |
