Even if it was a special weekend (Golden Week), Shin-chan almost made history, only 1.5% point away from beating Sazae-san...Would have been the first anime non tv-special/movie to do so in like a decade.

With Yōkai Watch becoming more popular, Pokémon is slowly becoming obscure.

In Japan that is. Both are just ongoing promotional material for the games, which is where the true popularity for either series lies. Yokai Watch may be a huge hit in Japan, but Pokemon reaches out across the world, something Yokai Watch has yet to do. I doubt the YW anime would get a dub and be aired in the states anyway. It'd just be labeled as a cheap Pokemon knock off. |

That's what interests me, YW is being labelled as the "Pokemon Killer of Japan" in articles over here. I'm interested to play YW when it comes out here to see what the buzz is in Japan, but I get the feeling it won't get rid of Pokemon that easily over here. I feel that Pokemon and Game Freak might be struggling to compete with YW, until the next main game comes out. Since next year is the 20th anniversary of Pocket Monsters Red and Green (Red and Blue in the West), so if we don't get a "Z" version, then no doubt it will be a Red and Green remake with six generation engine. |

True indeed; I meant to say it was only in Japan that the popularity of Pokémon is moderately declining.
Well, if this old thread is anything to go by, the chance of seeing an English version of Yōkai Watch might be a bit higher... |
