Sgt. Frog might be the first manga that I buy in digital format.
I would definitely prefer a physical release, but I will take what I can get. I own and have read all 21 volumes of the Tokyopop release, at least four times. I am currently reading volume 8. |

I think I've written this before, but just so everyone knows, Viz doesn't continue these digital "Select" imprint series where Tokyopop left off; it's only reissuing the original Tokyopop volumes in a digital format. So the main benefit is to new readers or those who may have missed a volume that's since gone out-of-print and become difficult to find.

Apparently my enthusiasm was premature.
Thank you for the information. Well, if this is successful for them maybe they will license and release volume 22 and up of Sgt. Frog. I can still hope. |

I don't see why Sgt. Frog wouldn't be rereleased in print. It still has a good-sized fanbase and potential for cash off an omnibus reprint of what Tokyopop released and then finishing off the last few volumes.

Hooray! can't wait to catch up with Keroro Gunso, even if it is digital. I have the Japanese editions of 22-25 so it'll be nice to read the content.

Guessing the length is the biggest turnoff for most publishers. I'm one of those people who would pick up vol. 22 in a heartbeat if it got license-rescued for print, but I'm also pretty much resigned to the fact that that might not ever happen. |

I became a fan of Sgt. Frog after grabbing all of what's done of Funimation's dub of the anime, then tracked down all of Tokyopop's manga volumes some time afterwards. I put it down as a "wish" in the earlier survey Viz did a little while ago and am glad someone is putting it out again, but digital-only also does nothing for me.
At least there is still Kadokawa publishing the newest chapters on ComicWalker every month.
Pretty much this. It's not like it's a hard sell to prospective new fans at all, either. |

I just got the last of the 21 English-published volumes of Sgt Frog last night. I'd love it if they continued it...or at least if there were scanlations of the post-dropping volumes, alas.

Sgt. Frog omnibus volumes, that would be great for someone that just started getting into the franchise like me. Hopefully it happens so I don't have to struggle with finding all 21 volumes released in the states from who knows where :s |

At Animax Musix 2014, there was a Sgt Frog mascot in the foyer and I had my photo taken with him(?) by the friendly staff.
Certainly still around in Japan. |

BTW, speaking of new chapters of Sgt. Frog, I just checked Kodansha's English Comic Walker site and they've posted a new chapter of Sgt Frog: http://comic-walker.com/contents/detail/KDCW_KS01000004020000_68 (I know it says "Episode 1", but it's actually Chapter 229).
I believe the last one officially published in English was 175. |
