80th week, seriously. I would think anyone that wanted the thing would already have bought it. But, no, people are still buying it as if they just hear of it. I don't get it. This is getting ridiculous.

Serious question here. Does this list include light novels? On amazon the SAO and S&W novels always outsell their manga counterparts by far but I've never seen them on the bestsellers. If it does include light novels maybe LNs really do have no chance in the west.

As this is a best sellers list for Manga/Graphic Novels, light novels would not be included.

My guess is Attack on Titan's rise to the top is due to them being given as Christmas gifts.

Am I the only one who is sick of hearing AOT/SNK everywhere? God, that series was good but it was not AMAZING as everyone is putting it over as the greatest anime ever. It is just getting as ridiculous as SAO.......
LNs have appeared on this list before:
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-12-05/new-york-times-manga-best-seller-list-november-23-29/.81819
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-05/new-york-times-manga-best-seller-list-august-24-30/.78448

Either they've decided not to include them on this list anymore (they probably did in the past to raise awareness of the LN I guess), or SAO was having a slow week this time around. Hopefully we'll see it again in future NYT rankings if they still decide to include LNs.

Look at AoT 1 go! Laughing

Oh, and Spice & Wolf 10 made the cut. I'm currently wondering if I should just jump into the manga or go for the LNs. LNs will be finishing up in 2016 (I think). It's a franchise I'm interested in getting into.

Have not seen the S&W anime, but I did buy the series collection from RightStuf, so hope to watch that soon!

Either the LN sales weren't high enough to register in the Top 10, or that the NYT decided to be true to the category's name and included only mangas

While I do like the series, I do share your opinion. This is common with really popular series in that they have a lot of news on it and the popularity does get milked.

On the flip side, with the way that the anime/manga industry is fluctuating in the USA, it is nice to have those series that help keep it staying somewhat strong.

Thanks for all the answers guys! And yeah, I dont think they do include Light Novels anymore as on amazon (which would definitely make a huge percentage of sales) S&W v10(manga) is on 14,365 in book bestsellers while S&W v13(Ln) is on 4,516. Big gap in popularity.

Wait, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that S&W LN have concluded.

I assume he means the translation, because yes the Light Novel has been over for a while now - you can go and look up the spoilers if you want.

As for anime/manga/LN - quite frankly I don't know why you'd go for the manga out of those. The LN is more detailed and the anime is...animated. The manga's okay but it only really serves as a midground between the detailed LN and the less detailed anime(in terms of plot/characters)

But you can read what ever you want I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the anime, but it just the amount of attention is getting ridiculous that wherever I go around campus now and meet an anime watcher, the first thing I'm asked is: You watch anime? Did you watch AOT? Best anime ever. I mean yeah, it was good but in my opinion, there are WAY too many anime out there that are better than AOT and should have deserved some of that excessive amount of attention instead.
Animelover12313, a few years from now, we might get the next manga that has this much level of attention and that type of complaining will continue.

Heck, I wish they had a manga with this much level of attention for this reason: It has a rare dog breed and that increases the supply/demand for responsible ownership of said breed.

I always think the same thing. I literally can't fathom why it's still on the top ten list.

And I'll be sure to be here to complain when that happened Razz. Sure increase but for that one anime only and not being share throughout thus the decline of quality anime will fall down and we'll only get cliche/rushed/generic anime. But that's just my opinion so in all means take it as a grain of salt.
