According to AnimeOnDvd, DMP Manga is going to begin creating tentatively titled OJEL (Original Japanese English Language) BL comics some time in the future. These books will be written and drawn by Japanese mangaka, who will market and release these books to an American audience before they’re released in Japan (if at all.) Japan will then have the option to license them from DMP. What are your thoughts on this? I'm skeptical on how well this announcement is going to go over with fans, but I'm going to wait to actually read one of these things before I pass judgment. From what little information I've been able to gather on the subject, this doesn't exactly sound like a crowd-pleasing idea.

(On a side note, they've also started up another manga sub-division for adult BL titles, "801.")

I can't imagine that manga like these, with no advance buzz from their success or fandom in Japan, will sell well enough for DMP to be able to pay more than a Japanese publisher would, so I doubt they'll be pulling in top talent. It's an interesting idea though....should be fun seeing how this turns out.
