Doesn't seem too different from the conchas I see at my local Mexican bakery. Then again, I've never had this melon bread stuff so it may have a completely different taste.

Melon bread was my breakfast staple when I was vacationing in Japan a few years ago. I never could find a store or bakery in my local area that sells it. Definitely miss that tasty snack.

My thought exactly when I read the title.
Maybe the next day several companies will go crazy like Oreo without the chocolate cookie or sushi without the rice (which basically is... sashimi, but hey probably they'll sell more with this kind of advertising.)
