I see since the forums came back up today that there's about a days worth of posts missing. This is great. Now I don't have to worry about all the posts and threads I had to delete/lock. Kind of a bummer that everyone else's posts are wasted, though.

EDIT: Whoops, just noticed this topic.

But it seems like there are a couple of threads that are entirely missing. Oh wait maybe that was from a little cleaning up from some of 4KrapSucks' threads that may have just been removed. Laughing

It's kind of sad to lose all those threads/posts, but crap happens. At least it was only a day's worth of posts.

But its sad that we lost the lolicon thread. We had two pages and zero flames, which was rather suprising for that topic.

Life moves on....it's not like we lost everything and we can't make new forums at all. I am just glad that they are back.

They are gone forever unless someone reposts the same thing. Relax, its not a big deal.

Dude, chill! Firstly, try reading what people post ahead of you, Tony K linked to the topic where Tempest explained that they were permanently lost.

And secondly, they were just posts, not like there's a prize or anything. Heck, I lost an hour and a half worth of work digging up old Kare Kano and Berserk topics for the "A compilation of series discussion threads" topic, and I'm not screaming about it in all caps.

Again, relax. I don't remember anything truly noteworthy from anyone yesterday.

Tony K. unlocked my thread. I had several very interesting conversations. What happened to the forums anyway?

Read Tony K's post, find the link, go to the explanation. Stop being lazy.

This is probably going to happen again. Next time we might lose all posts ever made.

Forums are back. "Yay."

Oh, the later replies in regards to the most recent Answerman had a few entertaining bits, depending on how twisted your sense of humor is.

Why is it that people are prone to make blind statements about a subject that they are seemingly ignorant about?

As I read in the other thread, the forums are running on backup, so are you going to have to install better software for the forums now?

I noticed that to. My posts from yesterday were gone. Crying or Very sad I guess I won't be able to see that thread about Claymore becoming a cartoon.

My question is, did this crash happen in the process of trying to fix the forums?

Agreed. I didn't make any posts here yesterday, but I was reading some of the Answerman posts and a couple of "interesting" topics in the General Anime forum. Not really a big lost since most of those threads are fogotten within two weeks' time anyway. I'm just glad everything is running normally and Chris McD explained to us what happened.

That's a bit of a downer. Not that I was in rare form or anything, but I did lose several posts nonetheless.

What don't you like about the current software? At work we have a multi-million dollar production database that still gets corrupted from time to time. That's what backups are for.

I used to be really annoyed with how slow the ANN forums were, but they're not as bad as they used to be.
