But what about the shipping (and/or handling)? Those could increase the potential cost A LOT
Not to mention in some countries ( European nations, Canada etc) some shipments require some form of customs.
Those are the main concerns when I attempt to buy things overseas, unless they were shipped by my relatives from China and Japan, along with other stuff.

I already import tons on anime/video game OST's and Artbooks as amazon.jp is the cheapest for shipping especially for the latter but its nice to see that video games are now included
Though I would LOVE if general anime merchandise became shippable overseas. Tapestries, clear files, posters, and all the other tons and tons of anime goods. I mostly use Amiami and the like for that but many items sell out fast there and amazon.jp usually always has stock for items that are long sold out from other online retailers like Amiami and the like.
(I know about forwarding services and use them a lot but the above would just make things easier and cheaper as no forwarding fees and amazon.jp shipping is MUCH cheaper then EMS)

Yeah, it's been like that for a while now - maybe 15+ years ago, they used to have a range of overseas shipping options (I used to buy books from there quite cheaply), but then they changed to the 3000yen flat rate, and suddenly having to pay that for a 500yen book wasn't such a great deal anymore.
I'm happy about the change, though - there's definitely been obscure visual novels and similar games where they've been difficult for me to get hold of, and they're RIGHT THERE on Japanese Amazon, but of course, they won't ship to my country. Now they will! Sure, shipping is expensive and being in the UK means I'd get £30+ customs on any videogame, but... that's the same regardless of where I'd order from, haha. Shipping to the UK is suffering.

Well that most certainly makes it easier to get Japanese games that don't get a western release.

Shipping from Japan is usually quite cheap but I can see Amazon charging more anyway. Still, there's no trouble with customs in the UK and it's still a heck of a lot cheaper even with the shipping than most import sites that charge 3x the retail price of a game, so this is pretty great for stuff that was never released in the west!

It should be noted though that multi language versions of games that are coming out for the general Asia region will not be sold on Amazon JP. So please take this into account if you are thinking of ordering Gundam EX VS Force, DOAX3, Gundam Breaker 3 or SRW OG Moon Dwellers, or any game that gets a multi language release.
I've found other articles online pretty much attacking 3rd party sellers not noting this.

I just checked the three games on my wishlist at the moment and all of them still have the tag saying they won't be shipped outside Japan. They're all direct Amazon sales. I don't think this news is as exciting as it should be; there have always been a few games miscategorised which could be shipped overseas from Amazon Japan. I suspect someone at Amazon has simply made a mistake and unlocked a few categories in error.

I already use Amazon.jp for buying manga so it's cool that I have the option for games now.

It does seem a few things don't work, mainly most Nintendo stuff I've come across (like Super Robot Wars BX on 3DS). But plenty of good stuff does work - I've tested it with Raiden V, the Leynos remake, and Puyo Tetris PS3, and those are all good to go. The shipping to the US with all three of those, by the way, is ten dollars.
I am indeed hoping this is not just some massive mistake that will evaporate tomorrow like a pleasant, fleeting dream. :'(

Which, uh, games are we talking about here exactly? Games that are Illusionary at nature? That have an Artificial quality to them? Ones that you can Repl- no, not that one.

I tried ordering a few games and they're showing about 772 yen for Amazon Japan's usual international shipping option (2-day DHL). And yeah, this option does not works on games that probably shouldn't be sold overseas (anything 18+, certain titles as mentioned), so probably not a fluke.
This is a game changer.

I guess I'm lucky that most 1-day shipments from Amazon to Singapore are less than 1000 yen. (^.^;)

It's a complete mess for those in Canada and the EU and there's still a few things being worked out as new games on region locked consoles are not available to ship for some buyers.
