Ok, so I just finished watching the movie and I really liked it. I have been looking around online and found there is a second movie coming out this summer, but all the info for this movie/project was posted back in 2004 or 2005. I was wondering if anyone had seen any more info on the movie.

Thnks for any info! Very Happy

I haven't heard anything. I doubt there'll be a sequel, and if there is, it probably won't be for a while.

There is currently two projects in the works for Appleseed, the first being the TV series http://animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5105
secondly there is also the next movie http://animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5104.

Also I don't know if you had the chance to see the original OVA that came out a while ago. It's not the most amazing animation, but I felt that the antagonist was much better then in the movie. http://animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=512

I should mention that the Manga is supposely really good but I have not yet read that so I don't know, but hey if it by Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell) it might be worth your time. I don't read Manga but it might be your thing.
Till next time,

If they do a TV series, I just hope it's not CGI like the movie was....I felt like I was watching a bad cut scene in a video game.

Good story though.

I actually felt the opposite way about the movie. I thought the story needed a lot of work but the animation was one of the best I had ever seen considering it was CGI.

But what I enjoyed even more was the Special Edition Case. Makes me wish more companies would have released their titles in those beautiful cases.

I agree with Joel, while the story wasn't the most cohesive, the visuals were very impressive. My only issue with the visuals were the characters themselves, while I see why they used the style they did it just made them look plastic or glossy at times.

I haven’t heard much about it but what I have heard is quite interesting, just remember these are only rumours I heard.

It’s not going to be called Appleseed two, I actually cant remember the name of the film but they said because it now has nothing to do with the Appleseed itself they changed the title and for some reason its gone from my memory.

Also I heard that john woo is actually participating in the film itself. He was a huge fan of Appleseed and has been trying to help out with this new film. I think he was going to help in character creation and some of the action sequences.

These are just rumours I’ve heard and are probably horribly wrong but none the less quite interesting. I'm a huge fan of Appleseed and can’t wait for the new one. its going to be ace! Very Happy

Not a rumor, check the appleseed page, animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=6489 It appears that he is interested in the movie only thus far. And as the article state there is less information about the TV series, I figured it will never get off the ground. The Movie should be of the Original OVA, the story was great now all you need is to make in CGI.

And I personally thought that Appleseed was an amazing visual exprience. I thought that the Flashlight scene was amazing, but then again I might be bias since it was my first time seeing an anime film in an actual theater. SO I was kinda excitied to say the least.
Till next time,

I enjoyed it but I prefer the original OVA movie with the handdrawn animation. I hope the TV series is good and I recommend the Manga to any Sci-Fi and Action fan but it is heavy on philosophy also.

When I saw John Woo's name I thought of the back covers on the Gungrave DVD cases:
Quote:
"If John Woo directed a cartoon, Gungrave would be it" -Horrorview.com
I wonder if Geneon picks up this title if they will just write "John Woo" all over the case? Laughing

I've always wanted to see the original OAV but I haven't seen it in any of my local shops. Oh well.

I got the same feeling from AppleSeed as I did from SteamBoy in that the artwork and visual effects are stunning but that the story is lacking. But overall its still a great movie, I mean if it wasn't why would I have bought it?
