Yet, he has had and is having quite the hard time coming up with another successful series after GTO.

Even if he doesn't get another "hit", the guy is in demand, which is great and is a sort of measure of success. Think of the actors that you always see in tv shows/movies/commercials. They might never get in a hit movie, they might always play the same part and they will never win an oscar, but they get consistent work and that is never a bad thing. I can't wait to see what Fujisawa has next with Red Data Planet.

Many manga artists already work hours a day with little time for rest or sleep. I can only imagine how long Fujisawa must be working these days.

It must be hard on him.Not to mention he already busy with the 2nd manga series of GTO - [GTO 14 Days in Shonan] and now he will start new series plus to Kamen Teacher.
He won't make decision like that unless he truly love to draw manga.

Any relation to "Red Data Girl"? Maybe a sequel or something? If so, that would be interesting...

GTO 14 Days in Shonan ended several years ago.

Sadly, some manga artists become ill even because they push themselves so far. Like Madara Saynora said, though, I trust that Fujisawa would only make this sort of decision if he truly loves to draw manga. If that's the case then I certainly hope that he will continue to have good health and be very productive. Ganbatte!
