Well, I haven't seen anything on here about this show yet, but I have to say, this is exactly the sort of thing I've been hunting for in anime, and have so rarely found-- an intelligent, mature, beautifully animated show with a gorgeous instrumental soundtrack that varies for each episode.... no hot babes with boobs, no fight scenes, just interesting relationships being explored through an intersting metaphorical/supernatural lense.
I've been repeatedly impressed by how, after 8 one shot episodes, I'm never bored by a story. They're all very interesting. Each time, the story of a new character is fleshed out in such an immediate way that I'm sort of stunned by what they're able to fit in to just 22 minutes. The also use the supernatural element to very good effect-- yes, it's creepy or beautiful at times, but it's also always very central to the emotional core of each story. It's never just window dressing-- instead the supernatural elements are used as fascinating metaphors for the problems that people deal with-- loss of a loved one, loneliness, guilt, etc.
Anyways, along with Emma, this has to be my favorite show of this year, hands down. Has anyone else seen this yet?
