Naruto anime and manga

I know that the naruto anime isn't over yet, but how long until it catches up to the manga, episode-wise? like 20 or 30 episodes? Or is the anime not going in the same direction the manga is?

I don't watch Naruto actively but from what I've heard Naruto is in somewhat of a slump right now. They're waiting for them to finish up the next story plot in the manga right now, and are just showing fillers until then. You can look on this thread for more information.
