The title means appoximately "Junior high Goddess". It's about girl who starts the show by spoiler[telling her best friend she's a was told she's a goddess last night in a dream and then proves it with a typhoon, attending diety coventions, answering prayers, trying to get a boy to notice her etc.] I haven't seen it but I'd really like to. It is also cute as in Miyazaki and smart like Haibane Renmei.
Needless to say, the premise is interesting to say the least. I'm curious as to what you think of shows like this which challenge the typical Judeo Christian way of thinking. Do you shun it or would you make an AMV to a Joan Osborne song or both, or neither? There also seems to be philosophical/spiritual content in Anime whether it be in Haibane, Air, Kino's Journey, Wolf's Rain, Rahxephon etc. What do you think about it? I'll start out by saying it was one of the things that keeps me interested in Anime and enjoying it. It is one of those distinct features that marks the difference between anime and most Western stuff, even when they try to talk about these issues on TV or Movies. I have not seen that either but I like this topic so here gose.
I think it is great to see spirituality covered in anime. I for one really enjoy learning about other cultures and you are going to have a hard time learning if you ignore their religeon. I have all ways been of the mind set that challenges to your beliefs generaly make you a stonger person. The thing about anime being better than western stuff is true for me also however its only because I am compleatly bored with most of whats available here. I beleive the more we understand about the world outside our or your borders the better. I think people who get the most upset about spiritual issues are more often than not just insecure in ther own beliefs and they feel threatned by oppossing veiws, in other words Fear. There is nothing really wrong about this exept that they can not progress beyond the constraints of there beliefs and will not grow till they are able to get over there fears. So I say bring on the spiritual Anime I love it. Kuddo's to Nani for this thread
